I agree Ebony really needs to update their format and JET is waaay out of date. ---------------------------------------- planetjacksonworldwide.blogspot.com
Well seeing as though they never changed with the times and had the same tired ass format for years, although I did get my collectors copy of Obama. and putting that fool diddly squat on the cover on hastens its demise.
Respectable actors could be Sheryl Lee Ralph and her AIDS benifits. Alicia Keys and the same. Relevant issues such as China buying up Africa. Blacks in Europeon politics like Obama. Role of HBCU's educating Blacks when "white" colleges and universities are having more open policies due to hard times and the "Obama effect."They could cover all sorts of relevant issues and become the Time magazine mixed with entertainment for Black America. Instead their issues look dated and stale. Essence still has good features but I sure miss Susan Taylor's musings in the back. What happened there?
By the way, the Ebony Fashion Fair has been canceled. The economy is hitting publications very hard. I doubt that Johnson Publications can remain in their current state in the future.
Mr. Johnson is surely turning over in his grave right about now. The Johnson Publishing Company is obviously having big problems selling ads -- I wonder if it will fold altogether.
The sale of Ebony is not surprising to me...it's been written for years at a fifth-grader's reading level. I subscribe to Jet because I thought it was the better of the two magazines, but now they are down to two issues a month at 50 percent of its "normal" size. Plus the fact they worried the hell out me to renew my subscription a month after I paid for a two-year renewal.
Wait a minute-Jet is now down to two issues a month. Boy they used to come every week. Wow pockets are truly hurting. So either you need to fix your buisness practices in this economy or drown.

I can think of so many people that graced the cover of this mag more times than I cared to see, and some that never made it, but should have.
^^^ DEAD @ "putting that fool diddy on hastens its demise"
No wonder Warren Ballentine was on the radio feverishly trying to get his listeners to subscribe to Ebony and Jet.
damn before jet lol
Why can't we ever keep anything??
Man we got to have the Ebony and Jet! That's all we really got!
i stopped gettin jet years ago when they start lettin any ol broad be the beauty of the week!
TIME Mag owns Essence, when!!!!!!!!!!!
Up for sale and notice the whore on the cover.
I hope this cover didn't come with the sale price. How come they couldn't have a more "respectable" African American entertainer on there? Like.....
um....
gimme a minute.....
uh......
hold on.....
Megan Good?
Damn. I FAILed. Well, at least Megan Good is a good actress and does not participate in whoring for propaganda.
Yeh but if you need to sell the mag, you have to let the ultimate whore grace the cover. That whore is definitely Piddy Combs.
