Toya Carter's Husband Released From Jail

I have to keep referring to Toya Wright as Toya Carter or what's the point, really? Anyway, Toya's husband Memphitz was released from the Clayton County jail after trying to board a flight out of Hartfield's International airport with a loaded gun in his backpack...

From WSBTV
Wright walked into court wearing an orange jail jumpsuit, handcuffs and leg shackles. Toya and her entourage were in court to support him.

"You are charged with a misdemeanor offense of carrying a weapon in an unauthorized location," said Clayton County Magistrate Court Judge Daphne Walker. "You did have a .40-caliber Desert Eagle firearm not artfully concealed in your carry-on luggage."

A Transportation Security Administration agent spotted the handgun as it went through the X-ray machine at Hartsfield-Jackson's security checkpoint.

Walker granted Wright a $5,000 bond. Before he left, Wright told the judge it was simply an accident.

"I just wanted to say to you that I would never intentionally take a firearm to the airport," Wright said. "I just forgot that it was in my backpack."

The judge noted that Wright does have a valid Georgia firearm carry permit.

"You do have to be careful when you go to the airport to be sure you remove it," Walker told him.

Outside court, Channel 2's Richard Elliot tried to get an interview with Toya, but she had no comment on the charges.

Earlier, outside the courtroom, she mentioned that she thought this had all been blown out of proportion.
