Stick Fly Limps to a Close

Alicia Keys' Broadway play 'Stick Fly' is closing after a three month run...

'Stick Fly' closes on February 26 in the wake of slumping ticket sales and scathing reviews.

In the play, Dule Hill and Mekhi Phifer play brothers who choose the same weekend to introduce their girlfriend, one of which is white, to their parents at the family's Martha's Vineyard estate off the coast of Massachusetts.

Be careful when judging someone because you could very well become what you are judging...

I guess she thought taking MShonda's husband should not affect her financially. Alicia white folks read blogs too. And they trouble with hubby on Megawhore( whatever that name is) is affecting her money too.

I can't put my finger on it but something looks different about her

Stick Fly got a decent review from the NY Times (which is the only one that counts). I notice you didn't print that when you published the others.

For all you Alicia haters out there, the play itself wasn't the problem. The reason why its coming to an end is blacks don't support blacks (in full force), and white people aren't going to see anything that's predominantly black. With that said, that means Hispanics and Asians are not going to view it either, because they have the same thoughts about us as whites. There you go. If you count on blacks to make something successful when it comes to an African-American project, you are in for a rude awakening.

7:17 PM, Maybe some of us aren't willing to support her because of who she ended up marrying and how she came to be his wife. Of course it's her personal business, but she's a public person and unfortunately for her that goes along with her public persona. When the public supports a celebrity's project it also supports a celebrity's livelihood and lifestyle. Follow the money.

#Blue Ivy is trending on Twitter! Choke on that HATERS!!!

Maybe she should have tried out different audiences in different cities with different actors and critics. A lot of community theaters have excellent actors and excellent shows and excellent venues.

7:17 you should do some research before you come in here talking that shit. Mountain Top with Angela Bassett and Samuel Jackson did gangbusters. So did Chris Rock's The Motherfucker with the Hat and Fela and The Color Purple with Fantasia. As a matter of fact the Black Broadway plays in the last few years have done better than most.

So miss me with that black folks don't support shit. What Black folks don't support is fake bitches who trick you into thinking they're about female empowerment but are actually the bitch who will take your man. If you a maneater own up to that shit. Nobody would be mad if Rihanna took somebody's man because we expect that from her.

Alicia pulled the old bait and switch and ran off with a cheater and want us to respect that shit.

If you want to blame somebody blame Mashonda for being so messy and busting Alicia's facade.

I don't know about y'all, but I like to see Nu School $$ in Old School arenas.

Hope AK builds on this experience with another Broadway offering.

I ain't mad at cha!

There is nothing wrong in her trying different outlets. Not that story but another story for a play, movie, or TV show. She needs to start there because if picked up she will receive checks not spending out money.

This is/was an excellent play. Much props to AK for attempting to do something different on Broadway. I saw it twice - all of you who missed it, missed a good one.
