Lauryn Hill Booed in Dallas

Lauryn Hill is on tour with Nas but insiders say she's still up to her old tricks...

According to concert goers in Dallas while Nas showed up on time and did his thing Lauryn Hill didn't take the stage until two hours after her start time and when she broke into a rant about her haters, fans booed and chanted 'shut up and sing!'

I really don't understand how someone who hasn't put out good music for 15 years can go on tour. What for? Diga Me, are you kidding me or what men......

WOW.. I feel for sis... she battling some demons right now. I will never allow my children in the music/entertainment industry.

I like the old Lauryn Hill and the old Nas. Dallas is a loser city for losers. It's like a state school if you didn't get accepted to your choice you go to the state school. If you couldn't make it in the bigger cities New York, LA etc you move to Dallas.

Get my drift?

Ha!

@2:08 LOL true that, Dallas is for rejects and people desperate to get over the Mexican border and live in the U.S.

Why do promoters keep giving this crazy bitch a chance? She is always late for every performance and she has the damn nerve to act shitty about somebody saying something to her because she is late. Lauren Hill was a talent at one time, but now she is just a nasty bitch who doesn't care about the two people that actually come out to see her. Hey Lauren the only reason that people come to see you is to see if you are going to act crazy or if you are going to start chanting.

Wow @ Lauryn. I hope one day she gets it together. I just wonder if anyone in her camp can pull her coat tail at this point, or maybe they just all gave up?

@2:08

IT'S CALLED CLASSIC MUSIC. CLASSIC MUSIC STANDS THE TEST OF TIME. PRINCE, SADE, STEVIE WONDER CAN BE ABSENT FROM THE MUSIC SCENE FOR 10 PLUS YEARS AND I WILL STILL PAY TO SEE THEM IN CONCERT. MY ULTIMATE DREAM CONCERT WAS MICHAEL JACKSON BUT SADLY IT NEVER HAPPENED. *SIGH* WELL LIKE I SAID I WILL ONLY PAY TO SEE THOSE THREE IN CONCERT NO ONE ELSE.

Here is the review for the show. Lauryn has been on time for her performance lately. She has really been working on that. Remember that night her children were in the eye of that terrible storm. She may have had trouble getting in contact with them due to the power outage in NJ.

Lauryn Hill

The lights finally dropped and it was quiet, as Hill scratched from backstage: "I get out, I get out of all your boxes." For a minute, the Hill crowd gave the Bieber-ites across town a run for their money. Very quickly we were reminded the wait was worth it.
She was wildly conducting the band, the sound engineer and, seemingly, the light guy. This wasn't the image of a band playing a rehearsed song; this was a painter pulling color out of pots in real time. They were having a conversation to create the song and it was compelling. Hill's band also did brand-new arrangements of nearly every song, and the set delved into the psych side of reggae, emerging as some Fela Kuti-Tina Turner hybrid.

"I can see some of you deciding to move or not move," Hill said. "Deciding if I am sane, or not sane. I can see you deciding if you are still down with a free spirit like me. And I want you to know I get it. So you make the decision, but don't be late."

This show was not haunted by her reputation. Her voice sounded like bourbon being poured, and she brought new life to a catalog that was already technically perfect. She didn't skip The Fugees tracks, and when she hit those rap sections, I could only dream of what her career would have been like if an A&R guy would have pushed her in the hip-hop direction instead of R&B. Still, she did it all with unmatched skill, no matter what the chatter has been about her work in the last decade.

The magic came when she finally hit the single from her upcoming album, Black Rage. A re-appropriation of "A Few of My Favorite Things," Rage is a smart articulation of the social and political constructs informing her description of black rage. And yes, it focuses on racial dynamics, on the description of oppression and its aftermath. The crowd was listening to every word, and afterward, Hill presented the lyrics for those who may have lost them in the contagious beat: "Black rage is founded on draining and draining/Threaten your freedom, so you'll stop complaining/Poison the water, while they say it's raining/They call you mad for complaining, complaining/Old time bureaucracy, drugging the youth/Black rage is founded on blocking the truth."

It was church in there, and I mean that as compliment. She looked back out and said, "Don't let them tell you who you are. Sometimes you are ahead of the curve. They don't know what to do with you when you are ahead of the curve."

And maybe she wasn't late at all. Maybe she was somewhere we all should have thought to be. Maybe we were too early.

Random note: Does "Fu-Gee-La" have the best hook of all time? Discuss.

Pro-tip: You guys, it's Lauryn. Bring something to read.

I love Lauryn but she needs to get it together. More than a few people have stated she's not right in the head.

Could it be that Wytheft And Rowhore Marley are getting to her with their foolishness? Her ranting about ”haters” did not just come out of thin air.
Here you already have an unstable person trying to make a comeback and move on with their life but then some bloodclaat, dutty, dry up Haitian scunt is trying to block progress.
Wytheft is determined to destroy her....jealous because she fell for Rowhore

That Dallas comment is dumb as fuck...smh.

lmfao @ 2:14!

is she really mentally ill?? is that an actual fact or just a rumor??

Anonymous said...

wow @ the people who hate Dallas. I've only been a couple of times and I didn't hate it. Of course I'm a sucker for black men with southern accents. It always gets me in trouble.

Anonymous said...

She ought to be glad that somebody is willing to go on tour with her. She's messing with Kelis' child support money.

@2:28 really the Dallas Comment..Im from Houston and I have lived in Dallas for the past 13 years it amazes me how ignorant people can be I have never commented on blogs but when I see these comments im like WOW, I would put money on it that they have never even been to Dallas so WTF are you talking about people like that wouldn’t even make it 5 min in this city

@2:08 i bet your a loser!

@ 2:08

Chile pleeze,a lotta folks from LA and NY have relocated to Dallas and the DFW area in general because the housing/real estate is economically sound. The traffic sucks but great real estate.

Lauryn is not crazy. She is very much sane. Lauryn has her eyes wide open and is not one the sheeple 'they' love for you to be. It is why she is demonized. The PWB don't want you to know the truth. Anything to prevent the awakening. Don't drink the koolaid. Critical Thinking will save your life. Stop believing the propaganda. Do your own research.

First the east coast v. west coast rappers and now this. Please nix the Dallas v. Houston blog war. All of America is fucked up and will be even worse after Election Day, no matter who becomes or stays president. Lauryn's fans need to get a grip...on their wallets. They should have learned their lessons by now. I've had a few opportunities to see her here and there, but with her reputation I refuse to allow her to mess over my time and money. CDs, Mp3s, and Youtube will have to do.

@ 2:19
I know that she puts out classic music, but the artist that she is in the studio is quite different from the artist that she is on stage.
Also, Prince, Sade, and Stevie Wonder put out more than one album. Lauryn has got to give her fans something more than just crying antics and bitching..

IN other news.. India Arie just tweeted that Viola Davis, as opposed to Zoe Saldana, should have been cast as Nina Simone..

Why ya'll got to hate on Dallas? Have you even been to Dallas while you throwing so much shade? Oh yeah, you can still behind a computer screen and be an internet gangsta anonymously! Way to go! Who's the loser?

WELL, Remember When "Lauryn Hill" Said..

Now the skies could fall
Not even if my boss should call
The world it seems so very small
'Cause nothin' even matters, at all

See nothin' even matters
See nothin' even matters at all
Nothin' even matters
Nothin' even matters at all

I guess she was right when she was two hours late to go on stage-nothin' even matters at all.

Lauren please get it together and stop being late all the damn time. This is one reason why I don't want to see you in concert because of your lateness, and I just can't you will get fired!!!! from me sorry the way it is.

Lauryn cut the shit

Anonymous said...

There are over 1mil ppl in Dallas, the shade is so unnecessary. Lauren has something to say if you have half of a half a brain you would listen.

Why see a person who has not had an album out in over 15 yrs? You must be young as hail to ask such a silly question. Go ahead and spend your money on your brand new 1 hit wonders. What are you going to do after they finish singing those 1 or 2 hot songs they have?

Anonymous said...

Well, the old heads have been going to see Frankie Beverly and Maze perform the same repertoire for like 35+ years, but I've never heard of them pulling the shenanigans that Ms. Hill is known for. Ever. Maybe something happened long time ago that I never heard about.

Anonymous said...

@ 6:19, like 7:30 said she was almost a class act but err.. not so much. I am young and I listen to soul music, and oh yes by the way I am a huge Lauryn fan. Saw her in concert in '01 and it was great but I wouldn't want to see her in concert again.

Anonymous said...

^^^^ And off topic btw, she is worried about her haters? Shouldn't she be worried about the damn IRS? I mean, they got Wesley good, she should be concerned... #JustSaying

Anonymous said...

She gotta make that loot before the feds put her in jail. I don't know if the Dallas review can be believed. The new arrangements may have made the songs unidentifiable. I wish her well but I think she's bipolar and people are hurting her talking this mumbo jumbo like she ain't crazy and doesn't need help.

Anonymous said...

L-Boogie is now a studio artist to me. I will not pay for a ticket, and then waste my time, to see her. Love her music, but clearly she's mentally ill.

That two-hour waiting bullshit is not Diva at all. It's called Severe Anxiety! She just gets defensive and acts Diva on the bitchiest level in order to defend it. Look up most major mental health conditions (bipolar, manic depression, Schizophrenia, etc....) and this level of Anxiety is included.

Wow at the Dallas comment. What an idiot

Internet psychologist amuse me. What do Lauryn, Katt W and Dave Chapelle have in common?

Anonymous said...

@9:27 Thank you!!!!

The poor sheeple.

LMAO @ WYTHEFT & ROWHORE!

Why do so many black entertainers acquire fame and fortune and end up broke and in trouble with the IRS? I was a huge fan of Lauryn Hill. Loved her voice and loved the song 'That thing.' I hope she gets herself together.

That Dallas comment is ridiculous. Dallas, like all cities has a lot to offer. I spent a week in Dallas several years ago. They have the best soul food, the best football team (Cowboys), some of the best elite colleges, like Baylor, Texas A&M, and they have some good looking southern brothas. The people I talked to treated me with southern hospitality.

To everyone on here...I always read, laugh, and never post, but on this note, I'll post. I JUST got home from the concert in Houston and she was a lyrical, vocal, and everything in between beast!! No rant...nothing extra. Just her essence that poured from the stage to the arena is what grabbed everyone. I don't know what she drank, or what pep talk she received IF she indeed received one, but that was a true experience for real nonetheless. To all the fans who have been dissapointed, you should have been in Houston tonight because "L Boogy" came wit it!

She outshined Nas!! Love his lyrics and music. Got his albums too, but Lauryn pulled the rug right from under him and handed it to him. True, she should be consistent in touring, but I fell in love with her all over again.

I Don't believe this story for even one second. A story with no source or proof and the so-called journalist wasn't even there - I think this is a bold outright lie. But I guess you wanna use Lauryn's name in vain yet again. Keep trying, her legacy will never fall. She is and always will be a living legend.

Anonymous said...

RhymeswithJ&B, please stop trying to shit on the goddess Lauryn's name. She is truly loved and you will never change that. Show some respect. Nxa

You people are really pissing me off, shitting on Lauryn's name just to get hits. Sies man!

Stop it RWS. Before your so-called 'writers' get knocked the fuck out and I'd be glad to do it myself.

I've lived in Dallas all my life and that was a comment from a idiotic person. If you are grown and plan to have a family, aint no better place. I would prefer my kids to grow up here than those fake tv cities.

Anonymous said...

All these comments about her being a "goddess" and "don't shit on her". Please this is an open forum and anything and anyone is fair game. #FreeSpeech

Oh ok ppl from Dallas are dumb rejects because they didn't cheer when a bitch they paid their hard earned money to came when she decided to come. GTFOH you muthafuckas slay me.

Dallas is a wonderful city with a lot of opportunities.

Anonymous said...

The issue is not her talent but her lack of regard for showing up on time. I have seen her a few times in concert and the show is indeed great.

However, with that being said being on time never hurt anybody. Why does her shows always start 2-3 hours late? You can't defend that nonsense.

Maybe the promoters/event organizers should inform people that the show starts at midnight and you wouldn't have so many people complaining about wait times.

Anonymous said...

she'll be on time when she goes to jail next year...for that tax issue...

Anonymous said...

She will be sentenced soon..heard it on the news!

I caught Lauryn's show here in Dallas last year. It was supposed to start at 8:00. At 8:35 opening act, 9:30 Old School DJ, Lauryn hit the stage at 11:00. After a 5 minute soundcheck/ band bashing, she was ready to perform. My friend left at midnight. I paid $80 and was not about to leave. I've seen Prince and waited 90 min. Madonna a month ago, 2 hours and 45 min. We are on the artists time not ours deal with it.
