Ice Cube Sued Over Lottery Ticket

Ice Cube's production company Cube Vision is being sued for stealing the idea for The Lottery Ticket...

According to AllHipHop.com Franklin White is suing Ice Cube claiming he sent a copy of his book, First Round Lottery Pick, to the VP of Cube Vision back in 2005 hoping to get a writing deal.

White's book is about a basketball star from a poor neighborhood who becomes instantly wealthy after being drafted into the NBA and the problems he faces after the draft.

The Lottery Ticket, filmed in 2009, is about a young man from a poor neighborhood who wins the lottery and faces opposition from a neighborhood thug while waiting to cash his ticket.

Franklin White's attorney's claims to have found over 44 scenarios in The Lottery Tickets that match scenarios in First Round Lottery Pick.

Franklin White is seeking to cease sales of the movie, a portion of the profits, damages and attorneys fees.

This is not the first time Ice Cube has been sued over The Lottery Ticket.

Another author, Tom Huag, sued Ice Cube in 2010, claiming he wrote The Lottery and gave it to his agent who gave it to Erik Wright, who wrote The Lottery Ticket for Cube Vision [click here if you missed that].

The Lottery Ticket earned over $24 million at the box office.

it's so much easier to buy the script and give the writer back end portion. since he's a new writer, he's good to get 2-300 g's for his first script. I guess I will never understand the logic in stealing a script when you have millions to buy and produce it.

And will be the first mf talking about giving somebody a break. Yeah somebody as in his own homeboy or daddy's girlfriend's son. This isn't the first time I've heard Cube stealing intellectual property. All bets are off. No more respect for him. Being an arts advocate, I can't support people who do this. Yeah, it's an accusation, but it's one that's attached to Cube's name quite often.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Ice Cube but he is known to jack beats and everything else that is not nailed down.

If you don't know, you better ask somebody.

If what dude says is true, I hope that he wins a hefty lawsuit.

It pisses me off when people have money but they want to take your stuff and keep you starving.

Yeah, copyright infraction is expensive! smh @ cube. Almost the same thing happened when The Game stole that book. I read this book and trust me there are a lot of similar things.
