Family OK with R Kelly Role in Aaliyah Biopic

Earlier this month it was revealed that the family of R&B singer Aaliyah did not approve of the planned biopic based on the singer for Lifetime Movies [click here if you missed that].

Turns out it's not the distasteful R Kelly incident that has the family upset, its the size and scope of the biopic…

Aaliyah's cousin Jomo Hankerson tells The Tom Joyner Morning Show,
“We want a major studio release along the lines of ‘What's Love Got to Do with It,’ the Tina Turner movie.”
“This needs A-list actors, A-list talent that can breathe life into what we think is a phenomenal story.”
Jomo, however, does not have a problem with the biopic being based on Chris Farley's book, 'More Than a Woman,' the delves into the illegal marriage between Aaliyah and R Kelly when she was 15 and he was 27.

Jomo tells TJMS,
“It’s not my favorite part. But we have no problem with basing the movie on Chris Farley’s book.”
