According to reports Forest Whitaker has just been cast as Fiddler in the remake of Alex Hailey's Roots.
Anika Noni Rose will play Kizzy with newcomer Malachi Kirby starring as Kunte Kinte.
Laurence Fishburne has been cast as Alex Hailey.
Mario Van Peeples has been tapped to direct.
No air date has been set but the mini-series will debut on History, A&E and Lifetime.
