R. Kelly Ban Backfires

Last week Spotify, Pandora and Apple removed R. Kelly music from their promoted playlists in response to recent backlash over his decades long reputation for exploiting women [click here if you missed that].

R. Kelly fans rally to support him...

From Variety
...following the May 10 announcement, R. Kelly totaled 6,676,000 streams, nearly 100,000 more than his weekly average of 6,584,000. Much of that increase can actually be attributed to a seemingly defiant spike on the day after the announcement, which saw a bump of around 117,000 on the first day before settling into approximately average streaming numbers for the year to date. On-demand video numbers followed a similar pattern.

Motherfuckers have known about his ass since Aalayia. Then on video pissing on teens. That aint stopped his albums from selling or concerts from selling. Did people started watching Roman Polanski movies after he raped that teen in NY and ran to Paris? Nope. Ok then

#Winning!!!

People have a right to like who they want. I'm glad I don't use a streaming service, I buy my CDs, and I have plenty of his music that I will NEVER stop playing. The last time I attended an R. Kelly concert was in 2014 I believe.

I'm not advocating for him, but I'm not dismissing him either. I will not respond to any negative comment.

That's because in their hearts, music is more important than these young girls innocence or lives. As long as he makes good music, niggas will support him until the day he dies and afterwards. But The Most High got something for this wicked ass nigga on Judgement Day.

Black people (along with the rest of America) don’t care about the well being of black women and girls point, blank and to the PERIOD! It seems like we must protect and defend black men (and black men only) at all cost, even if they are a proven pedophile, rapist, murderer, etc.

This is America, dont catch you slipping now

2:01 shut up. This is about the music, not the man. If we really based what we listened to and watched on what the artist, director, actor, creator were about as human beings and individual moral traits, then we couldn't watch a movie, tv show, talk show. We couldn't listen to shit. These sick ass CEOS screwing boys like Jared. Guess no Subway for anybody. Music? What music could we listen to cause the artist a fucked up human being. Get my drift? Thats why I say Ima fan of people's work and not them. Your logic is flawed. Plus R Kelly cancelling his concerts is a clear sign that people ARE tuning him out

@ 2:30pm Make all the excuses you want, you're still defending a pedophile. There are several artists I don't listen to anymore after knowing they've abused someone. It just doesn't sit right with me, so I change the channel!

2:30 Dumb ass, you shut up! There’s no written rule or law that you have to separate a person from their work or art. It’s mighty funny that black people cause a stir and get white people fired from their jobs all the time when it’s discovered that they said something racist on social media, according to your logic we should separate the racist people’s personal opinions and and ideologies from their work and there should be no consequences if they’re exposed. Hell aren’t black folks right now pissed at Kanye and talking about canceling him? Should they “shut up” like you suggest and go along with the get along and separate his business ventures from his personal ideologies and continue to make him rich by supporting him?

R. Kelly is a PROVEN pedophile. If you found out your pastor, mail man, or next door neighbor was having sex with little boys and girls, would you say they should keep their jobs, livelihoods, positions of power in the community, and just separate their personal business from their careers? Hell from the sound of your dumb ass, you probably would. You people with your celebrity worship are just as sick as the weirdos you worship. If Robert Johnson down the street wouldn’t have people looking the other way and excusing his PROVEN pedophilic ways, then why should Robert Kelly?

No one believes them because their self-admitted groupies. You have no credibility when you admit you waited three days in a hotel lobby just to get a glimpse of his ass. It smells fishy to me, they tried rape, herpes and kidnapping and if none of that can stick, you know it's bullshit.

They probably thought these allegations will make him lose his mind like Michael Jackson and he'd kill himself but unlike Michael Robert probably doesn't give a fuck.

Sad, how little support our black girls and women are given.. I sold all of R Kelly’s music in the early’00s. That’s how long ago the tape was made. I did not view it myself, because it’s child porno. I took the person’s word, because he watched it. What he described was enough for me..

I do not wish to support anyone that treats Black girls and women the way he does. Regardless if their fans or groupies. No one deserves to be taken advantage sexually nor emotionally.

Did the Boondocks predict this??

This just goes to show how much people care about black girls and women. So it comes as no surprise as Malcolm so eloquently put it...The most disrespected person in America is the black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America is the black woman.

Is this really a debate? This is insane. He is a sick twisted individual. If the color of his skin was different would it matter? It seems as if a bunch of sick twisted individuals are part of the entertainment industry. It’s sad it took so long to address this issue. Sexual assault is just that, no matter what the circumstance.

As long as these women willingly go to this man knowing his reputation, I will continue to listen to his music. Take responsibility for your actions. I'm not blaming the "victims", but don't willingly go to this man when you've known how he rolls since the 80's or 90's.

2:01 you are speaking truth f his music this is about the stupidity of black people knowingly supporting a monster who abuses young girls. I can't wait until the authorities build a solid case against him, it's coming

Kells music is and will forever be the shit. Cut the BS people!

The man has talent and the man has produced a lot of music that has been great. On personal matters however, he is a piece of shit. Similar to M.J., talent does not equate a good, honest person.
