Spotify Removes R Kelly From Playlists

Over the past year multiple women have come forward accusing singer songwriter R. Kelly of mental and sexual abuse adding to his infamy for exploiting women [click here and here if you missed that].

Now the music streaming service Spotify is removing R Kelly from its playlists...

In a statement to Billboard Spotify confirms,
"We are removing R. Kelly’s music from all Spotify owned and operated playlists and algorithmic recommendations such as Discover Weekly."
"His music will still be available on the service, but Spotify will not actively promote it. We don’t censor content because of an artist’s or creator’s behavior, but we want our editorial decisions -- what we choose to program -- to reflect our values. When an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful, it may affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator."

I stopped listening to R. when he married Aaliyah. Where some of y'all mofos was then? Spotty probably wasn't around then. But STILL R. behavior ain't new news.

NO KUDOS for them.

^^ Agreed. R.Kelly is a pedophile. Even when the "cat" was out the bag he still continued with his sick behavior. Even his denials are half ass'd

Good for Spotify. Better late than never. I stopped listening to R. Kelly when I saw the video of him having sex with that child. Didn’t care if she was so called “fast” or if her parents “ knew what was up” as others claimed. He was clearly a sick pedophile having sex with a child. Period. There is no justification for that.

^^EXACTLY. I JUST GOGGLED THE MARRIAGE. She was 15. That was 22 years ago. Fuck all these bandwagon jumpers. They are directly responsible for multiple victims. Pain, suffering, stolen virginity.

I have zero sympathy for R.

I know Aalyiah is gone (R.I.P), but I really wish her family will come out and speak about how he manipulated them. It’s similar to the same story, as the young girl, he is went now (Her parents are all over social media trying to get her back). He promised her a singing career 4 years ago. Now she just sits in his house like a prisoner and no communication with the outside world. Spooky!

Reaper Kelly shall reap what he has sown. May his crotch burn in hell for all eternity.

@9:22 I asked these same questions years ago when her parents threatened to sue behind her deceased reputation. I don't and didn't understand how they protected her at 15, in that she was able to run off with a grown man and marry him without their consent, so they said; but are so adamant about saving her reputation after death. My comment on Bossip was deleted and I was banned from commenting for a while.

Are they going to similarly censure Justin Beiber for his FILMED diddy about "dead ni99ers"? How about Guns n Roses for a verse about "ni99ers and f@gs"? No? Then GTFOWTBS!

They still play him on Sirius XM. I can't listen to someone who touches little girls.

I still listen to R. Kelly's music although, I wouldn't pay to see him in concert. Streaming services like Spotify should take off any rapper or musician who have allegations such as this and flawed characters. They should take them all off. Don't just stop with R. Kelly. But once they go down that rabbit hole, just know that there won't be many left to stream lol

People who don't care about these types of allegations will find their fav's music somewhere so might as well take them off of all streaming platforms.

I stopped listening to R. Kelly years ago. It wasn't easy either. Everytime "Step In the Name of Love" came on the radio, I'd changed the channel. And that shit played everyday all day. He was/is heavily supported after we all saw what he did to that child. But it was a HELL NO from me. Nope, can't do it.

@12:28, Who is "we"? I didn't see him do anything because I don't watch child pornography. Mind you, I was in high school when the video came out. I refused to watch the video. That video was heavily distributed across the nation and nobody batted an eyelash. So those of you who *saw* the video are part of the problem....
