Aaliayh's Mac Collection Gets a Release Date

Earlier this year MAC Cosmetics asked Aaliayh fans to help create a make-up line in her honor [click here if you missed that].

MAC and Aaliyah's brother Rashad Houghton just announced the release date...

This made me teary eyed. This woman has been dead for about 17 yrs and she was loved that much for a make up line to do this. She didn't have a long career but clearly she made an impact. RIP...and YouTube "influencers" are gonna have a field day with this

This is messed up on so many different levels.
There are plenty of LIVING young and beautiful Black entertainers MAC could use for this marketing campaign. They instead choose to use someone who has been dead for almost 20 years.
I loved Aaliyah but she's gone, let that girl rest.

Yea this is just creepy... Rashaad need to do something else in remembrance of his sister.

Just an observation said...

Fenty makeup raised the bar when it released shades for all complexions.

@4:02. Mmnn...not really. When it comes to realistic hues, Fashion Fair was the first but it does look cakey (does anyone wear that anymore?). IMAN and Black Opal raised the bar some but these were hard to find after a while (I know you can get the latter online). Mainstream brands link Clinique, MAC, and Bare Escuentials are found almost everywhere with varying weights but the more skin issues you have(like hyperpigmentation), you're likely to spend a couple of pretty pennies.

For those screaming exploitation, her fans petitioned MAC for years for a signature line before they actually agreed to do it. Not everything is as sinister as you cynics make it out to be.

Dead girl's makeup. No thanks. Creepy.

Too bad they did not think to do this when she was alive.

@5:18 yes really... Fenty did the damn thing. It's about more than the shade range. ALL shades are available in store, that is not done for big brands. Now you see other brands riding the "full range available" train. Fenty saw a need and they filled it. Doesn't matter if you offer multiple shades if I can't test it in store and find the proper shade
