Jada Pinkett Smith Explains Why She and Will Smith Don't Call Themselves Married

Last week Jada Pinkett-Smith released the preview for the second season of her Facebook series 'Red Table Talk' where Will Smith admits failing miserably in their marriage [click here if you missed that].

In a recent interview Jada Pinkett-Smith explains why she and Will now call themselves life partners instead of husband and wife...

Jada Pinkett Smith tells People Magazine
“I needed a different form to dissolve all the expectations that I had of a marriage. I needed to do that to see Will outside of husband and see him as a human being.”
“We have all these expectations, ’Oh, this is what a husband is. This is what a wife is.’ I started dissolving all the ideas and expectations and labels.”
“Will comes on the show for two episodes, and we talk about redefining our relationship, going from calling ourselves married to becoming life partners. I felt like there was a way to speak about that that was open and transparent. But there are still aspects that are private!”
Will and Jada will celebrate their 21 wedding anniversary in December.

Jada and Will are full of shit and very weird. I do like them, but they are strange. But I know one thing, Jada is beautiful and she is glowing! These pic y'all have is everything. Whatever she talking about, I suppose it's working for her.

They are divorced and happier for it.

sure if by glowing you mean nip, tucked, lifted, filled, botoxed, juvedermed and still using camera filters, then yes, she does look nice.

I agree with what she is saying, had I had that mindset when I was younger, could have saved me a whole lot of drama and pain in the "love and marriage" department. The marriage poem by Kahlil Gibran is a wonderful way to be in a relationship. I'm not not here for Jada's philosophies I have never gotten an authentic, sincere vibe from her. Something about her is cold, calculating and brittle.

Still talkin' bout yo damn marriage or partnaship or whateva you want to call it! Shut up already! We got it! Ya'll the superheros of the black relationship! Ain't no body betta! Ya'll have all da knowledge and wisdom. Need somebody to bow?

Don't fall for these folk mess. Trying to redefine things that do not need to be redefined. Watch- if you wish- but use a discerning ear, eye, mind, and spirit. These people are not quiet as wise and well put together as they may think.

I'm all for marriage, and currently in one myself BUT if it takes this much effort, soul searching, nips and tucks and God knows what else JUST to stay with that person then it ain't worth it.
Jada has aged horribly within the last 10 years and its not genetics cuz her mama looks fabulous. This is all Willemina's fault.

I guess it's easier to deal with calling him something else when he failed in husband level expectations.

@ 1:32pm I hear you about all this soul searching and such required!!

I'm speechless. It's the same weird marital fix up served up relentlessly. What is the matter?
