Frankie Beverly Calls Beyonce a Blessing

This week Beyoncé released her remake of Frankie Beverly's "Before I Let Go" on her Homecoming Live Album [click here if you missed that]."

Frankie calls Beyoncé's revival of his song a blessing...

Frankie Beverly tells Rolling Stone,
She's a great friend of mine, but I didn't know she was going to do this. I was hearing stuff, but I didn't even want to approach her about it. She kept it quiet, until her people called me one day maybe a week or two ago. When they played it, that's when I heard the first draft of it, and I was blown away. It's a blessing. It's amazing how she works, she's very smart. I'm caught off guard, but in a beautiful way. She's such a sweet person too. She's a very sweet, religious kind of person. Then the way she just released it, it's off the chain. She's done so much, this is one of the high points of my life.

Hell yeah she a blessing. You know why? Yonce will not get any money for that song. It goes straight to Mr.Frankie. Same thing happened with Vivian Green. Heard her interview and she definitely confirms it. She made no money from her song--goes straight to him. Good for you Mr. Frankie. Make those hoes pay like they weigh!!

Before I let go. I have hated this song for years. The lyrics are about him preparing to leave his woman and he's giving her one last change to prove to him why he shouldn't leave her.... or something along those lines.

How the fuck did a song like that become a staple in the black community? Why is this song played at every black event other than funerals? Listen to the lyrics... not a good song. Popular. yes. Good, no.

Cut the man his check Beyonce.

^ clear example that black folks don’t pay attention to the lyrics. Just the beat

Bruh...yall find anything and make it negative. The lyrics state that they've BOTH hurt each other and he wants to make sure he's doing the right thing before he calls it quits. Sounds like a pretty healthy break up song to me.

I guess f*ckin, suckin, thottin, baby mama lyrics are much more preferred. SMH my people, my people.

10:22 anything to be negative..if the girl pass gas the wrong way they will turn that into a negative. And when that song come on, they black asses gon be jamming to it too...fuck out here.

But, why is a "healthy breakup" song the standard at every black event? There are other songs, uplifting and positive that has NOTHING to do with doing each other wrong, that could be a black standard.

"Aint no stopping us now" has always been a personal favorite from the same point in time, better beat too.

@11:27 if you have to ask why, you are a bot and have never been to a black event. Our music selections is as diverse as our intellect.

Whoa, whoa, ho
You made me happy
This you can bet
You split right beside me, yeah
And I won't forget
And I really love you
You should know
I want to make sure I'm right, girl
Before I let go
Now we've had our good time
That's what they say
We've hurtin' each other
Girl, it's a shame
I won't be foolish, no, no
I want to know
I want to make sure I'm right, girl, oh
Before I let go, yeah, uh
You know I thank God sun rises and shines on you
You know there's nothin', nothin', nothin' I would not do
Whoa, no
Before I let you go
I would never, never, never, never, never, never, never
Never let you go before I go
We were so close
I love your charm, oh
I can understand it, no
Where did we go wrong?
I won't be askin', girl
I've got to know
I gotta make sure I'm right
Before I let go, ha ha
I want to know
I want to know
Oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah
I can't, I can't let you go
I can't, I can't let you go
'Cause I know
Ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba ba (ha, come on, darlin')
Ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba
(I want to know, I want to know, I want to know before I let you go, I gotta tell you so)
Ba ba ba ba ba (come on, girl)
Ba ba ba (come on)
Ba ba ba ba ba (I can't let you)
Ba ba ba (go, go, go, go, go, yeah)
Ba ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba (I want to know, know, I want to know)
Ba ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba (whoa, whoa, whoa)
Ba ba ba ba ba

Please I heard her version and she sounds horrible. Beyonce is played out her voice is not what it used to be in my opinion.

Love his music but this is the same man who fucked Marvin Gaye's wife and then dedicated a song to Marvin. So of course Beyonce seems nice and religious...a religious voodoo witch.
So I don't trust his judgement of women.

Beyonce is so calculated and I'm beyond tired of the worship of her. She did this song to tap into the Baby Boomer crowd because she is getting too old singing Silly Thot anthems. She tries to come off so "eclectic" and well rounded musically. To be honest Alicia Keys has that gift. Alicia has a horrible voice but her music had that effortless versatality that Beyonce tries so hard to have. Same with Jasmine Sullivan.

Beyonce does this because she needs validation from every genre of artist to seem like she is the female MJ. I'm so glad Santana had the sense to see through her bullshit.

Black people worship this bitch like she's Virgin Mary. I'm tired of it.

Beyonce is talented but she is all hype and made to be bigger because she has no real competition.

I got a good one for ya'll

Bey needs to remake Another Man
Barbara Mason, classic!!! I could see the vision board now ---Bey in a pool of lemons like Cardi B in Offset video, singing this song with ALL HER HEART IN HER APE SH&t VOICE gang gang style

Pindar will be so PROUD!!
Do you remember when I said
She's got the papers and I've got the man
But the man that she had, that I took from her
Is not the manchild that we thought he was at all
Caught in the middle I don't know what to do
What can you do when your man is untrue
There's another man oh baby
In my life (in my life)
He looked very normal till I opened my eyes
The man I loved and married loves another guy
There's another man (Another man) in my life
Oh in my life
Oh ah
Another man is beating my time (Another man is beating my time)
Another man is lovin mine (Another man is lovin mine)
Another man is beating my time (Another man)
Another man is lovin mine (Another man is lovin mine)
I'm going crazy
(Another man is lovin mine) Crazy
(Another man is beating my time) Going crazy
(Another man is lovin mine)
You know you and I were together
I was so in love with you
But there was a little bit
Too much sugar and you were little too sweet
But then was a little bit
Too much sugar and you were too sweet
I think I wanna stay but I don't know if I can
Loving like I do and sharing with the man
There's another man (Another man)
In my live (in my life)
Oh I think I want to leave
But I can't swallow my pride
My midnight lover loves another guy
There's another man (Another man) in my life
In my life
Oh ah
Another man is beating my time (Another man is beating my time)
Another man is lovin mine (Another man is lovin mine)
Another man is beating my time (Another man is beating my time)
Another man is lovin mine (Another man is lovin mine)
You know I started notice
A definite strangeness
There was no sameness
He was changing
I had gone out one day and bought me a very, very sexy dress
And opened up my closet and it had dissapeared
Lord I hope the man is not wearing my
Oooh child
And I also pick up other little things
Like you and I making love the other night
I thought he was calling out my name
But it evidently it was not my name
And I passed him on the steps one day
And he was switching more than I was
And I even caught him holding hands
Walking right down market street
We all know what market street is
He was so desirable
And this's gonna be such a waste
You know when you think everything is in place
And what you think you have is not what you really have at all
Because in my case what I thought I had was not a entire whole man
But a facsimile there of (ohh)
Wasn't the clothing or nothin', you know, I'm not
There was a certain kind of a way that he talked to me
His voice went up
You know, at first he was talking like, YEAH BABY
Then he went hello
And it kept going up and down
And there must have been, I figured, a defect
Of not when he was created
But somewhere down the line
Something went wrong
Another man is beating my time (Another man is beating my time)
Another man is lovin mine (Another man is lovin mine)
Another man is beating my time (Another man is beating my time)
Another man is lovin mine (Another man is lovin mine)

I'm 1:25 and only did a screen shot so those who aren't familiar with the song can see it's a healthy breakup like the other poster said.
I do agree with 2:51. I'm tired of the blind worship of this woman. It's beyond showing support for your fellow musician. If you have an actual opinion that is different from others you're blacklisted. Someone said it's her fanbase but I say it's her and her rabid ass fanbase.

Beyonce must get off having a rabid cult-like fan base. Her ego is as nasty as Kanye's; she just knows how to be nice and likable with it.

I'm not a lacy. LADY Gaga fan but Gaga is super talented. When some of her fans got out of hand and bullied someone, she shut them down quick. If Gaga, who is more popular than Beyonce, can do that, why can't Beyonce do it?

But whatever, I really don't give a shit at the end of the day. None of these celebtards are paying my college tuition. LOL!

Again, why would a breakup song be so popular, that its played at all black events?

Love his music, I remember seeing him in concert in Boston in my 20's. Best time of my life next to seeing Diana Ross and Elton John. Frankie is a legend.

@251pm I AGREE!

This will totally take Beyonce's career OUT OF THE DUMPSTER!!!

[UPDATE: No, it won't.]

Beyonce's version is straight trash! Frankie is happy she exposed him to some more money is all.

Got dammit you must be slow as molasses. As many breakup songs that are played you're asking the dumbest question.
