Blackish Renewed

ABC fan favorite Blackish has been renewed for a sixth season...

ABC announced this week the renewal of Blackish and the pick-up of the Blackish spin-off Mixed-ish based on Rainbow's life growing up in a mixed family in the 80s.

Rainbow's mom will be played by actress Tika Sumpter.

Kenya Barris, the creator of Black-ish, left Black-ish because they wouldn't let him included news footage of Donald Trump, Colin Kaepernick’s on-field protests, and the deadly Charlottesville rally of August 2017 in one of the his episodes. (I guess they only want happy black people.)

That alone is reason enough for me not to watch this show.

Y'all can have it.

I'm tired of Black shows always focused on race. There is more to being black than race, hair, white fatigue, and struggling in the ghetto. Check out God Friended Me and Claws; those are predominately black TV shows that are more outside the box.

Don't understand why Tika Sumpter was chosen if the original mother was light and that's the mother Bow grew up with.

@2:25 - I'm with you because occasionally, this show does get a little preachy. And in some ways, it's dated and/or inaccurate. Anyone who's lived in L.A. for the past decade and watches this show regularly knows what I'm talking about.

Anyway, Good Girls on NBC is my new thing. Mixed races just interacting like anyone else.
