Spinderella Suing Salt 'N Pepa

Back in May DJ Spinderella announced that Salt 'N Pepa kicked her out of their legendary rap group [click here if you missed that].

Now Spin is suing...

From The Blast
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, DJ Spinderella (real name Deidra Roper) is suing Pepa (real name Sandra Denton) and Salt (Cheryl James).
The suit explains the trio started recording and performing as SNP back in the mid-1980s. Spinderella says she helped launch the group to be the success they are today.
The band went into hiatus in the late 1990s but she continued promoting the band. She claims things got weird in the early 2000s when she learned of a compilation album being released. She says Pepa told her they would pay her $125,000 but that never came.
She continues, “By the early 2000s, the Defendants discussed with Roper an SNP reunion which would have possibly involved, among other things, a television show based on the legendary female group’s rise to stardom.”
Spinderella claims they promised her a one-third cut of profits.

SALT-N-PEPASPINDERELLA CLAIMS GROUP'S SCREWING HER!!!

If spinderella don't sit down somewhere......you are an employee of the group and not a member!

She also left the group on her on Accord and asked to be hired back which they obliged. Know the facts

They can do a show without her.....she can't do one show without them

DJs spinning records played out in the 80s. Do you even know what a record is? No cuz they don't exist. She better thank her lucky stars they kept her employed for this long

The group is salt n Pepa like the name says. She was not even the first spinderella

11:33 ...yknow every new album is released on records again right? djs havent gone anywhere and are still heavily appreciated especially by those tired of people putting beat machines on demo and struggle rapping over that.

The issue is she doesn't really DJ. She fake spins records and dances. If I recall they paid her like a dancer not an equal part of the group. I can't say I blame them

@12:50 lies

Spin got the hardest verse on a couple of their hits.

@11:33 records are still being made keep up baby

1:20 Exactly, like someone said they can perform without her but she can't perform without them. SNP can't perform certain songs without Spin because her name was heavily rotated/referenced in the lyrics. Spin can get a residency at a resort, hotel or a nightclub in Japan, London or Dubai, but she has her daughter who is pregnant and she wants to be near her new grand baby. I've seen SNP twice and the experience was better with Spin. She may have been an employee, but she was a strong part of their brand. Female DJs weren't popular back then; now they are everywhere (and they gets paid).

@ 12:27

I'm all for more foot traffic but it's so obvious when the Google alerts crowd shows up.

The constant auto refresh and pop up ads are really what's keeping the comments down.

I think the group is better with Spin too..
I've seen them both ways and she does help the vibe, she's a pretty good DJ...but then again I saw her on a cruise ship and she was the worst DJ of all the parties they threw...so IDK about her DJing without the crew?

Back in the day the thing was that she was a female DJ for female rappers. But what exactly did she do outside of recite a few verses (I wonder if she wrote them)? What is she doing now for the group? I don't see the value that she adds. She should have gotten that contract right from jump, she should have insisted the group be Salt, Pepa and Spinderella but she didn't.

@11:33 you're right, she's not the first Spinderella

Damn they doing her dirty. She been there with them for the longest time. She is part of the group. I haven’t seen one video, concert, interview, photo shoot, etc without Spinderella. Grimy bitches.

Spin don't close the book just move on to another chapter. Sometimes in life you have to let things go for your sanity, and move on.

Spin was NEVER a member of the group. DeeDee isn't the 1st Spinderella. She's not the dj in the Push it vid. Cheryl & Sandy are Salt N Pepa & Spin was just their dj.

This is a 1990's issue WTF they not somewhere SAT down. All of em. Pepa is the most painful to see in them tragic wigs and tight clothes trying to relive them Tunnel and Union Square Days.

Both Salt & Pep are painful to watch. Pep looks ridiculous trying to keep up with the younger girls instead of embracing a new stylist. Salt gained so much weight she looks likesheis going to keel over from exhaustation of a simple two step. The fuck?!? They have not evolved at all.
When they reunited Salt was not that big. She picked up all that weight from depression of her failing marriage. Girl! Take some water pills and step away from the wine!
People talking about they dont owe any loyalty to Spin but male rap groups from their era don't fire their DJ. Run DMC didn't ever not include Jam Master Jay. DJ's are just as relevant today as they were then. Some of you are so clueless.
