UK BeyHive Desert Beyoncé

Last week Beyoncé released her new album, "The Lion King: The Gift," as a companion to the soundtrack for the new live action version of The Lion King starring Beyoncé as Nahla [click here if you missed that].

The UK BeyHive was NOT checking for it...

According to reports "The Lion King: The Gift" had only been downloaded 949 in the UK in its first five days of release.

Meanwhile in the US The Gift is battling Ed Sheren for the top spot.

That's because the US is not telling the truth. The UK numbers are closer to the truth.

NO-ONE wants to hear a 60 year old Kathleen Turner sounding Beyonce destroy kids songs.

Beyonce is now shooting for the top spot of #1 worst remakes. Her voice is deeper than Frankie Beverly on the Before I let Go remake. UGH.

^^^First of all this is her album, not Disney. There are no remakes on it, secondly this album is actually what black folks and brown folks needed, not to mention all the unknown and up and coming artist make this album really good and spiritually stimulating.

^^Oh lordt! Stop telling us that black & brown folks need music from Beyonce like she's Jesus Christ. Please & thank you.

@Sunjo I agree and it is for US. ON first listen, I knew, white folks and all the others wouldn’t be checking (or self hating blacks but that’s another story). I don’t think she’s pressed financially or otherwise, at this point, and makes the music she wants to make regardless of sales.

Now, I’m surprised black UK people aren’t supporting but a lot of them be the most lost in the sauce so maybe I’m not that surprised.

chile please!! you know this ain't the music she wanna make! she want to make ratchet booty twerking music!! she don't give a damn about no black person living in poverty while she in her crystal palace. She goes on tour deliberately just in time to gobble up people tax returns. she care about green people on that money! she wants to give off the impression that she cares, but it's clearly not the case. so many issues in the world and she don't open her fucking mouth about shit. if you wanna hear an over produced version of her "opinion", you gotta drop them coins. her albums ain't enriching nobody but her damn self. "bUt BlAcK PeOpLe NeEd To HeAr It" if you think black folk "need' to hear beyonce's album, then you have a world of bigger problems.

@10:07 Woo Chile, your misery is showing. Seek counsel. You may need Valium....Prayer...Eggplant...Coochie...LOVE...yeah, that’s it.

You're not supposed to brag about what you donate, that's low class. Beyonce has helped so many people and stepped up for so many black causes, you have no clue. Sounds like someone is bitter because she's balling. Wow.

I think events like this can make the overall status of the society to improve. It is a nice idea from the professionals to conduct such a giving day to help the people who are left helpless in the society.Jogos online

Beyhive is in here strong. I agree with Sunno. I’m not here for the idolizing. What we NEED is to stop with the praising of an individual who could care less about anyone unless they are lining her pockets. Nothing is done out of the kindness of heart. When she gives all of her profits to help those in need, I will see her differently. If Ariana little snooze fest ass can do that so can Bey.

I have heard the album so I don't know, I'm a Bey fan but will skip this one, I'm sure some other witch in my circle will have this. I have a couple of witches in my coven that are Bey stans, and you dare not speak ill of their deity, I'm sure I will be contacted soon, by one of them pinching their nipples to this album *shrugs*

She’s trying to sound sultry like Anita Baker and Toni Braxton. I’ve never liked her stuffed up, boogers in the nose voice.

ppl act like she did something soooo magical. she had left over songs from her experimenting with the sound. ala run the world grown woman and end of time. after 4 tanked she shelved the rest now that lion king came along it was her chance to drop them. one of her songs she's doin the same ole thang bragging about who she is and what she has who her man is and making sure her daughter gets writing credits. nothing that's so prolific for blacks and browns on this album. just a business savvy star that saw an opportunity to milk the general public. add to the fact that her presence was so minimal in the movie and soundtrack. she was not gonna pass up a chance to outshine the lion king and the soundtrack. fail.

She’s battling no one. It’s #66 on one chart and #92 on another chart.

The shade!!! Lol! This is funny coming from a editor.

If you look at most of Beyonce’s records, they are not singable. “Single Ladies” is one of the very few. “Crazy in Love” is constructed from the Chi Lites’ “Are You My Woman?”

At 3:08....so true

3:08 You're right! What she did was a business move! If she really cared about her artistry as a songwriter she would have dug deeper into the African sound. Putting Afrobeat songs together isn't exactly cutting edge at this point. It's a very popular sound in the UK, which is why not many are checking for it. All the artists she worked with are well known and have better songs off this soundtrack. I initially liked it when I heard the album. The sound production is excellent, but after the first listen there isn't much there to listen to again. Like I said most artists on the album have better tunes on their own. But Tiwa Savage is definitely the stand out artist on the album. Her voice is beautiful.
