Nicki Minaj Doubles Down Amid Rosa Parks Backlash

Over Super Bowl weekend Nicki Minaj previewed new music on social media featuring a Rosa Parks metaphor that many found distasteful....

In the snippet for her new song 'Yikes', Nicki raps,
“All you b***hes is Rosa Parks get your a** up...”
Nicki shared the preview one day before Parks' 107th birthday

After Billboard Magazine and other media outlets picked up on the viral outrage Nicki "liked" a series of Tweets praising her word play and ability to go viral.

12:37 I was thinking the exact same thing you wrote. This trick is just a gutter rat too and conveniently uses the Black woman card for her own expense. About 6 years ago or so she had some side way lyrics about Malcolm X as well.
She's older but she doesn't evolve at all. Just throw her all the way out. Disrespectful bitch..

They all need to keep the civil rights icons, out their damn foul ass lyrics.

I never heard that till now, then again I don't listen to that living dead druggie looking zombie. What a vile ass thing to say, Emmett's ancestors should have given his ass a spiritual slap and the family hexed his ass up. We are the only people that disrespect our own, even in the most horrific tragedies, these brain dead druggie tools for the industry, will blasphemy and call it a "rap song" vile disgusting black devils.

Context please, what were the other bars before and after this line? Rosa Parks was a lesbian, the civil rights movement have tried in vain to hide that fact.

Rose Parks wasn't the first black women to refuse to give up her seat, and get arrested for it, a pregnant teenager was. They have tried to cover that up too. What Nicki Minaj has to say, means nothing to me. More important things are happening in the world.

I don't stan for manufactured heros.

Wouldn't it be awesome if black people stood together and said to the radio stations and record companies that we will no longer allow our community to be assaulted by negative, filthy, vulgar, disrespectul, damaging rap music ???

I dont care what any of them did personally. I do care that they fought for uplifting their own. And as a rule would at least make an effort to promote togetherness.Rather one bars or two bars if you truly thought that was ok to say thats sad! There are so many other ways to tell a chick to sit down. Why even use that in the rap?At this point who are you really trying to influence?

I'm not a nicki fan
But Claudette colvin was the first not to stand up...the media wanted rosa parks to be the face of the movement..those who are placed in front of you are always there for a reason. In industry they replace people with the image they want. Much respect to Rosa Parks.

We already know this, however manufactured or not, they did put their stamp on the cause, Rosa was chosen because she was a light skinned black. The other young lady was a chocolate sister and did not fit the profile, we know of the color issues within our ranks then and still ongoing. At the same time does not change the facts, shit got done after that boycott so put some respect on Rosa's name.

In allllllllllll of my years, never heard that Rosa was a lesbian.

Ms. Colvin was a dark skin teen mom and she is the mother of the Civil Rights era..not Ms. Rosa. I guess her complexion was the face they wanted to use.
2:59 3:18...thank ya'll for the lesson

The verse is weak, at best

Nicki is fighting with Meek on social media

So Rosa wasn't the first. So what? It doesn't take away from the bravery and courage it took to do what she did. She could have been raped, lynched, or beaten. She is a hero. Stop trying to diminish her place in the history of this nation.

Go crawl back in your hole Nikki. Safaree had a daughter you know, while you marrying murderers.

F this ghetto sh!t. I'm so tired of all this nonsense. Thank the Lordt Nicki doesn't have a child with this trampage attitude. That attitude sucked the life out of most men cause it shows. Now she's back on some Rosa Parks conundrum so she can get some attention. Nicki don't even like life, so they keep this out there.

I cant stand this evil bitch. Regardless, our civil tight leaders should be off limits. We cant even respect each other how the hell other races respect us. Rich bitch. She think she can just say anything and not take responsibility for it. Rap music is degrading to our community. Bitch this how that, pussy this, titties that and still black lives still dont matter Nikki you bitch.

@3:18 PM

No DISRESPECT was put on anyone's name. Rosa Parks was a figurehead, just like MLK. The movement was much larger than any single person.

That Nicki Minaj line... I gives no fucks. People are making a big deal out of absolutely nothing. What is the context of that single line? I don't know.

So niggas mad because Rosa was light skinned Lmao Black people truly got fuckin problems.

All of that other shit yall talking??? Rosa still did what she did and it was dangerous for her to do. She could have said no, get somebody else to do that shit. But she didn't. She is owed respect.
