Megan Thee Stallion Calls Out Carl Crawford Over Bad Contract

Last year Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion announced her new management deal with Roc Nation, causing friction with the head of her record label, former professional baseball player Carl Crawford [click here if you missed that].

Megan explains why she still hasn't released any new music....

In a video posted on Instagram Live an emotional Megan claims she was very young when she signed with 1501 and was unaware of certain aspects of her contract. After Roc Nation brought the items to her attention she thought she would be able to renegotiate her contract, but Carl has refused and that's why there's been no music.

How many times to they have to tell these young folks to have YOUR OWN lawyer examine your contracts? Not the lawyers they provide, and don't listen to their explanations of what the contracts say, bring your own people!!

Sooo not interested in more stripper music.

Wait, so she's locked in one contract and Roc pointed this out and decided to lick into another... so she's now locked in two contracts and unable to put out any music? This is so sad because whore hop is my favorite X)

From a business perspective...if i front the money for you for years then i have to get paid what i invested & finally make a profit. I don't understand why these idiots dont pay $200 for a lawyer to review your contract & advise revisions b4 you sign your life away. same as Roc Nation did but it was after the fact...
Renegotiating is not a pleasant conversation. Remember Carl is not a strude label exec..Meagan jumped shipped bc Roc Nation dangled a bigger carrot. She should've just communicated better. Roc thought they were going to steal his artist bc he wasn't business savy...but then he went & oulled the BIG guns out & partnered with J Prince.

Chile she talking about read what you sign duh bitch where you been. I dont understand did she sign the contract while she was dick riding on her tip toes?

I'm sure Carl would have renegotiated an exit but he's probably salty about the way you handled your signing with Jay. That's what happens when you're not professional enough to ask for a meeting to explain you would like to move into another direction. I wouldn't fuck with you either. But the question she should be asking is why didn't Roc Nation explain that conundrum before they scooped her up?

Whatever happened to the Cardi B lawsuit where she was saying her contract was invalid because she was stupid? Did that ever get settled?

Meg your on your 10th minute... Tick tock

@9:09 $200 for a lawyer?
Did you mean $2000? And even that wouldn't cut it if you want quality advice.

@ 9:10am lolol.... Truth!

@9:34 I agree
Like she said she was young, she still young to not handle her business like a business women should. Carl found out like everybody else about her Roc Nation deal, you should never bite the hand that feeds you so please Carl do us a favor no more booty music and bare bottom videos. I'm sick of this stripper rap.

It's a million docuseries, movies, messages and speeches about this happening for ages and here comes Megan thinking she different. This is another example of not knowing your history so youre now repeating it and in front of the world.

But she has money for name brand clothes though? #priorities

First off ROC Nation is her new MANAGEMENT not her label, its difference she does not put music out on ROC Nation. Its stupid because if she doesnt put out music then how does everyone get paid. Secondly if you listened to her she stated her mother was doing everything, her mother passed when she was at the top of her game which left her business matters up to her. THey should've read before signing but she didnt, I just started to like Meg music too. I love her as a person though.

I know nothing about this "girl" other than seeing her on RWS, I don't listen to this younger set anyway.

Sounds like Jay got in her ear making her think the grass is greener. You know who else hasn't put out music despite the high demand. ROC nations own Rihanna. Ask Kanye if those same Roc attorneys helped him go over is contract. Don't jump out the pot into the flame. If it wasn't for Carl Crawford would you even have made a big enough wave for Jay to notice you.

Lawyers charge $450+ per hour.

In other words... Jay helped screw another young black up-and-coming artist out of money and a career.
No surprise here.

Bottom line: She signed the contract.

She signed 2 contracts, so she has obligations to both and has to pay both. HOWEVER, Carl Crawford didn't make no one. She gumdrop head ass, assisted and provided financial backing, but the creation was all hers. And as everyone says, people need to read contracts before signing.

look! a talking bird!

Some of you clowns need help with reading comprehension. She is signed to a record label with Roc nation managing her. There is no conflict of interest here, but the record label has the power over the music she creates while under a contract. The problem here is really her manager that DID leave the label to go to another company. Megan didnt AND CANT leave the label but can choose her management team.
