Usher Challenges The Weeknd After He Accuses the Singer of Copying His Style

This week Canadian singer The Weeknd was quoted in Variety claiming R&B singer Usher's 2012 hit single Climax copied the sound from his 2011 debut mixtape House of Balloons [click here if you missed that].

Usher and Climax songwriter Eric Bellinger fire back...

After The Weeknd's disrespectful comments went viral Eric Bellinger started #TheClimaxChallenge where Usher effortlessly sang falsetto, lying on his back no less, and challenged The Weeknd to hit the same notes.

i think the weeknd's remarks are a look into how cultures outside of america dont truly understand, know, or respect black culture of america. the weeknd probably only knows usher from yeah!! and has no idea of his impact in the 90s, 00s, etc.
i often hear tone deaf remarks about black american culture from non black americans. i am not trying to attack them, just saying they don't quite understand at the least or at the most respect us

Funny to hear complaints from someone who calls himself "the weekend"...seriously? I don't even think his "singing" is all that great to begin with...but I digress. **sigh**.

And I agree with you 9:49

The Weekend could never touch Usher. It’s funny how we’ve (well, not I) gased up all these mediocre artists that could never hold a candle to the likes of Usher. Smh

Not only Usher but some of these other ppl taking the challenge sound better than him. I am not saying he cant sing but I dont like any of his songs are great and I never understood why he was such a big deal. Especially when he had that big root growing out of his head. Lord I'm glad he cut that thing off.

This nigga The Weekend can't be serious! He just can't. First of all, he can't sing. Secondly, whenever I hear his ass I turn the station, while Usher gets blasted all through the house. No comparison between the two and I would be offended if I were Usher. The Weekend ain't even on the same level as Ush. Periodt!

wondering if we will get the proverbial "they took my comment out of context" follow up post from mr. weekend.

11:03 AM you are so right about so many mediocre "artists" (and I use the word loosely).

Agreed with all the folks here - he cannot touch Usher.

but he never said he sang bette than Usher he said he heard a song of Ushers which sounded like it copied the sound of his earlier album.
That doesn't mean he thinks he's a better singer.

Why people jumping all over him, why not listen to the songs and see if he's on to something?

The reason we are reading him is because we are not feeling him at all. Now put a period on it.
