Tracee Ellis Ross Staring in Daria Spin-Off

Tracee Ellis Ross cast in the new Daria spin-off 'Jodie...'

Jodie Landon was one of the few Black students at Lawndale High with Daria Morgendorffer on the 90s MTV animated series 'Daria.'

This week Comedy Central announced a Daria spin-off featuring Jodie's character after landing her first job out of college. The series will put a spotlight on Gen Z struggles and explore current social themes.

The new series is being produced by MTV.

Why they use this pic of TER, not the greatest looking pic of her.....

She looks fine, father time is undefeated. As a big 'Daria' fan, I'm not here for this. It's late as hell. Jodie is in her 40s now.

I don’t know what it is but Tracee doesn’t do it for me. Anthony Anderson either. They both come across so fake.

I still watch Daria on Hulu, she reminds me of my secret self. Don't know if I will be checking for this, like 10:52 said. Daria in her 40's now.

Tracee is ugly as hell. She gets a pass because she's mixed, light skin, with loose curls and a nice body. The way folks have gone in on Whoopi Goldberg and Viola Davis, then act like Tracee is Halle Berry status is sheer colorism.

@10:54 I cant put my finger on the reason why these two dont work for me either.

I would like to see black ppl that dont have a job acquire job opportunities. Stop recycling the same actors that are working(eating). Our talent runs deep in the black community. Thats real reform.

Cartoons don't age. If she gets the voice right she will be fine.

11:03 I fully support your statement. I hate using the word ugly, but she's hardly a head turner and gets the light skin pass. She looks old in the face.

Agree with 11:14. I love TER but I would like to see someone in this role. Give someone else a chance. Loved Daria as well as a kid.

i have mixed feelings about this. i loved daria when i was younger and it came out. now i watch it with my 15 year old daughter who reminds me of daria (except of course she's black). i always liked jodie, but i would like to see what daria, jane, quinn etc are up to now. and it's a cartoon, so they can age them all however way fits best in the narrative of the show.

@10:46am well she’s not a beautiful woman by anyone’s standards. It’s sad she gets all these acting roles off her mama’s pull instead of her actual acting ability and talent. If her mama wasn’t Diana Ross then this wouldn’t be happening. Period.

@11:14 I feel you ✊🏾

And her mama got over cuz she was giving it up to Berry. Truth be told, Martha Reeves was the best singer at Motown. Hell, Flo was a better singer than "Miss Ross" but Flo could barely stand the sight of Berry.

Tracy and her wandering eye ain't all that cute in the face but she do got a nice body and although I do see where people think she's fake I think it' really that she's insecure and awkward because she know she got a wonky eye and she know her mama is why she's even famous.

Tracee Ellis Ross you don't even fit the role of Daria it's shame that you always jumping on something that you don't fit in the role Daria Will Smith daughter going to play that Willow would have fit that role really good but you is old as the Methuselah tree and it doesn't make any sense did she want to play the role of Glory I can't see it at all it makes no sense to me sit down somewhere get married and have some kids of do something with your life other than trying to take a teenage role you almost in your 50s hahaha

Tracee Ellis Ross you was in mrs. Moss for a long time and you thought you was going to get away with somebody trying to come to her house to kill her inspirit for you because you lost the part of Daria to Willow Camille Smith and that would never happen bring your minds with your bubble eyed ass this is Will Smith saying I never liked you and you're not funny you tried to kill baby girl last summer and you could do it cuz you was too dumb and your sister and brother wasn't there Evan Ross's said I would never try to do that so now it's time for you to come Underground to prove to us that you didn't do this try to kill Missy.

Another job that should've gone to Cree Summer since that's been her bread and butter since ADW went off the air.

Is she the only African American female that shows up to work or what?? Good lord, give someone else a job! She's a good actress but she lacks depth & variation. Always will be Joan from Girlfriends in every role she plays.
