Naomi Osaka Wins the U.S. Open

Naomi Osaka takes the top prize at the U.S. Open after a week long campaign to bring awareness to Black people murdered in the United States without consequence...

Everyday for a week Naomi Osaka shared a picture on Instagram of her masks baring the names of different victims right up through her win.

Funny to me how the mixed and half blacks that get the most attention for bringing awareness to BLM issues (Naomi, Kap, etc), when full black people out here been in the struggle and don't get the same shine, as if their message isn't as important. Good for her on the win, no hate, but like somebody on here says all the time, this just another 'crisis actor' in another form. And before any a yall try to come for me about can't I just be happy for her, I say I don't need to be happy for her because I don't gain a damn thing from her winning a tennis match, a white man's sport, and she's not a black woman, she's an Asian-Black woman so she don't represent me.

The US Tennis Association and the US media outlets will spotlight anyone as long as it's not Serena or Venus. They particularly hate Serena because she's better than all of them and until recent years, she was unapologetically Black.

My money says they will come to hate Ms. Osaka if she's as good as I hope she is.

Yes, time to pass the torch.

The media does tend to hype up women and men of color as long as they fit a certain archetype and look they deem acceptable and non-threatening. They're also quick to downplay, shun or characterize any Black person who stands strong in their Blackness as militant. I don't see what's ignorant about stating the obvious there.

It doesn't matter, what she identifies, as. What Yt ppl see is color. This young lady will mentally catch up, as she is disrespected in her tennis career. The doors have been opened for her. She will continue the journey, for the next generation.

I agree @ 1:37. So sick of the colorism on this site. It's so damn hypocrtical.

@11:34, After the way America booed this child when she whooped Serena's entire behind on the court, I wouldn't care what anyone thinks if I were her! Naomi was done wrong and she is just as Black as Serena, hell her dad is Haitian. You all don't like her because she is mixed race when in reality, genetically she's more Black than 99% of most Americans. Face it, some of our people are hateful and hate mixed folks when we are mixed too... DNA researchers said out the celebs they took DNA from Emmitt Smith and Don Cheadle are mixed too. Lol. Grow the hell up and stop the pity party, the world's sick of gearing this bigoted ish. At this point Sudanese are unlikely even 100%.

LOVE YOU NAOMI..Jordan Peele, Collin, Frederick Douglas, Robert Church, Bob Marley, and other mixed folks haven't done a thing to anyone but excell and give back. Bless people, don't curse them or God will curse you for His creation.

@10:03 You are absolutely right she is bi-racial as all those notables before her (they do not struggle). Interesting how TPTB pick those to put in the forefront.

Anonymous said...

Some of ya'll sound just as f*cked up as the white folks. Wow!

Anonymous said...

We have to be a certain kind of black person now?

@2:30pm
Why don't you start a blog for mulattoes??? You can rest assured that I will stay away. Since there will not be anything over there for me. I don't go where I'm not wanted. I will always stay with my own(black) people and sing their praises.

Well got Damn!!! A lot of yall fuk'd up over "shades of color". If she identifies as a black woman than thats WTF she is. Yall sound butt ass hurt & ptsd kicked in from past traumas...If know how fukin diluted american black blood is then you wouldn't make ridiculous statements. Mixed babies born on plantations for over 400yrs been labeled Black; mulatto, negro or whatever the fuck them crakas felt best fit. At the end of the day everybody was up for sale as niggers

4 :46 The difference is today them mixed and mulattoes use that complexion as a priviledge and get over in all kinds of ways so fck what you heard, you know it's true. Stay in denial if you want. Facts are facts. All this we all one complexion shit is only useful when it's mixed people being pointed out and called out. You niggas don't come this hard to protect Serena when she's being called a gorilla and all types of shit so FOH with that we all one color bullshit. I guarantee if Noamis hair wasn't kinky AF she'd play the shit outta that Asain card so again FOH with all that we one color BS.

THEN TAKE YOUR ASS BACK TO AFRICA AND SEE HOW THEY TREAT YOU THERE. THEY HATE BLACK AMERICANS DUMB ASS. Heaven forbid you do a DNA test and find out you ain't as African as you think. Until we embrace all our shades and stop hating the souls God created us to be, YT will stay winning. You will get nowhere on your own without learning to love others. You will be right here stuck on this blog choking on bitter making the stereotypes true.

Yeah this is becoming every post all the time. I left SR cause of this silliness. Some niggas just don't wanna be happy for anybody or accept awareness from anywhere. You think we were freed from slavery and given the little opportunity we got just from the backs and voices of black folk? Stupid. Pick up a book... better yet, just google it.

Most Obviously she's melanated & not white....Naomi said she he black & there really shouldnt be a debate.

This blog will go on long after your bitter ass is gone. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. You will not be missed by anyone. One asshole doesn't stop the show. BUH BYE!

@2:27pm ... This is 11:34.

Re-read my post. I have nothing against Naomi. In fact, I wrote that I hope she continues to win. I also wrote, if she beats those asses the way Serena did, then she will get her “Nigga, wake up!” call, too.

My only beef with her, which I didn’t go into in my post, will be if she forgets that each and every time she hits a ball as a professional player, it’s only because she’s standing on the shoulders of Arthur Ashe, Althea Gibson, and The Williams Sisters.

@ Alma...
Its clear thst the path was laid. Naomi seems respectful of the pioneers. So what you saybyour point is, it really isn't. Simply put, you have s problem with the mixed blackngirl taking a stand for black justices. I usually rock with you but this statement wreaks hatred for no reason.

@1:38. Pretty is subjective. But i think you're gas lighting bcuz your statement is the main reason why "some" people in here bothered by another black person. Its childish & old already. Beauty's where you find it & the sooner some of you beleive that the sooner you'll rid yourself of hate.

I have NO problem with her taking a stand for Black justice. None at all. Please don’t put that rap on me.

Something happened between her and Serena on the court a couple years ago and I didn’t like her reaction (or non-reaction). I don’t even remember exactly what happened, but the press made Serena the wicked bitch and Osaka the damsel in distress. Rightly or wrongly, I’ve been giving Osaka a bit of a side-eye ever since.

More than anything, I have a problem with a system that treats the Williams sisters like shit and spotlights anyone else, including Osaka, Sloane, and Coco. I’m a little suspicious of the three of them but, yes, more so with Osaka.

Am I harsher on her or suspect her more because of her Japanese ethnicity? Maybe. I'm not sure why.

But that doesn’t make my suspicions and frustration any less valid.

All these sports are rigged and they are paid, to represent whichever "latest cause" their corporate handlers deem fit.

Alma's Daughter said...

It is also rigged to discredit any one who embraces their full Blackness. When it comes to us they are only interested in those who are Black-ish!

I hate the show Black-ish but love that word because it explains exactly what White people want when they deal with us. They want just enough to of our Blackness to steal from us, but nothing else that may cause them to change their ways.
