Naya Rivera's Son Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Back in July actress Naya Rivera drowned after renting a pontoon boat with her five year old son Josey on Lake Piru in Ventura, CA [click here if you missed that].

Naya's ex-husband Ryan Dorsey has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the boating company on their son's behalf...

Naya Rivera’s son, Josey, filed a wrongful death lawsuit four months after the Glee alum accidentally drowned in a lake, Us Weekly confirms.
Josey’s father, Ryan Dorsey, to whom Rivera was married from 2014 to 2018, and the late actress’ estate submitted the paperwork on the 5-year-old’s behalf on Tuesday, November 17. Josey is suing Ventura County, California, where his mother died in July, as well as United Water Conservation District and the county’s Parks and Recreation Management for wrongful death and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
The complaint obtained by Us alleges that Rivera’s death was preventable and that the boat she and Josey had rented from Lake Piru did not comply with U.S. Coast Guard safety standards.

These YTs sure do love to pass the blame for every and anything, and they absolutely love them some money. So I guess he's suggesting that if the boat she rented was compliant she wouldn't have taken her own life? GTFOH. Her death was ruled a suicide so the decision to die was hers and hers alone. Nothing the US Coast Guard, the County or anyone else did would have prevented that.

^^No dear, it was ruled accidental drowning

^ Then I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification. I still believe she took her own life based on how it went down. Just my opinion.

I don't think a mother would subject her baby to a situation of suicide. She would commit that by herself.

Everything is not a law suit. How much money does the father think he is going to get out of the Wrongful Death Lawsuit? He want win. No evidence.

The dad is looking for income so he won't have to work.I hope the judge throws this out. Get a job & take care of your son!! The money Naya had is probably untouchable until the kid turns 21 and the dad is looking for a easier way.....lawsuit

Unless the boat grew arms and reached out and pulled her underwater....No Case! That lake was notorious for accidental drownings due to the underwater vegetation. They will have an uphill battle winning that lawsuit.

I bet they get some money that lake swallows a dozen people every year. Some reported and some not and it is also a spot for suicides. They will probably take care of the little guy to make the publicity go away.

If she slipped in the water intentionally? Or fall?

Unless she fell in I don’t see much of a case because according to the kid, Naya and him were out swimming and she pushed him back on the boat before she drowned and according to the lake rules and signs out there, there is ano swimming allowed policy. So technically she broke the rule. It’s messed up that nobody saw anything or heard anything. I believe these man made lakes need surveillance cameras for safety reasons
