Square Acquires Majority Stake in Tidal

Back in December there were rumors that Jay Z was in talks with Twitter and Square co-founder Jack Dorsey concerning the sale of Jay's music streaming network Tidal [click here if you missed that].

The rumors were true...

Yesterday Jack Dorsey announced that Square has accuired a majority stake in Tidal.

Jay also recently sold a 50% stake in Ace of Spades champagne brand to luxury brand LVMH [click here if you missed that].

Where is LURKER with the inside scoop? This sounds suspect as hell. And the sheep will say "He's a Business, Man."

So is Diddy but I don't see him unloading his business. Birdman nor Master P either...

"As soon as the deal closes." why won't Jay-Z wait until the deal closes before he says anything.

I need him Jay Z to do something with that godawful mop on his head, who told these niggas having locs, require you to look like a voodoo doll? that shit on his head looks nasty and stank. You too busy to get some decent looking locs, out here looking like black homeless Howard Hughes.

This goes to show a lot of the rumors we hear about them be true.

It sounds like he is adding more cash to the cow for expansion.

Tidal was on its knees not paying artists and staff leaving and getting sued for fudging streaming numbers. This is a desperate attempt to gain all of the losses back and to continue to be shady, but hiding it better. Jay Z ain't no good and his business track record is extremely questionable. I don't admire success by any means necessary. You are no better than a drug lord, sex trafficker or weapons distributor at that point. Why is this behaviour accepted and revered? He wants a seat at the table so bad he's willing to do anything. That's a dangerous man in my opinion.

JACKED FROM ANOTHER BLOG!.....

Tidal is owned by multiple partners, Jay Z is just one of them. It is a partnership with alot of moving parts. Jay is the figure head or Mascot if you like. "The public black face" for white corporate America to get access to black consumer dollars (a 1.2 Trillion market) This has always been Jays position.

In 2017 Sprint acquired 33 % of Tidal, and TOOK OVER the reigns in running the ship. This was a bail out, had they NOT, Tidal would have collapsed. Sprint owns the largest chunk of Tidal, followed by a very long lost of smaller partners.

Regardless of Forbes Billion Dollar Resume of Jays businesses 80 percent of his income comes from PERFORMING AND TOURING.COVID put a grinding halt on that for Jay Z just like many artist in these times.

Jay Z lost that performing and touring income due to Covid. This is why he is selling his interest in these companies "Armand de Brignac Champagne" an "Tidal", the HUGE loss of income from not being able to tour.

@Ramon yea same thing people said about Magic Johnson when he sold his Lakers stake and all his restaurants and starbuck..maybe he was getting a divorce maybe he was getting ready to retire or the stress of all he was doing was making him sicker, I think something bigger is in the works Tidal was a mess for him but he is always smart enough to know when to get out from under a situatiion that is going nowhere fast I think he planned on Tidal doing better so he could morph it into something greater most likely being able to make content availble on smartphones and other gadgets but it never quite caught the on to spin off the cash needed for that he was thinking ahead when Oprah and Tyler Perry and the crowd was moving into TV he was thinking ahead to what was going to be the deilevery sytem of content in the future, I also think his move to do something not just march sit in or protest against the NFL was a way to build relationships dont be surprised if him and wifey face the music and realize they are legends in music and business but know they to will become retro at some point I think they had their eyes opened by the pandemic and now realize its time to level up and go bigger and get a piece of something the goverment is behind so they tie there fortune to the people in power we all know the roman tactic of bread and circus well bread in our currrent enviroment is transalted to stimulus and the circus is still gladitors in the arena what Magic and Cookie figure out a while back now Hov & Bee are following in their footsteps and anyone smart knows selling half of ace of spade guarantees LVHM will give it their all and tie his drink fortune to the top of the heap in that field insuring his continued success threw thier global reach by giving up half he made sure every resource they have will be used to push ace of spades dont be surprised if he comes back later on down the road with something else he has built value in to utilize a bigger players reach and conections he know the power of partnering told you him and a few other would be to hip hop what the rolling stones were to rocknroll the people who used it as a springboard to do greater things pull up a chair and watch it unfold again not a know it all or a inside just a student of business and all things related

@8:00AM - Can we find a Reason to be A positive voice aBout Someone from the culture being Involved in a opportuNity that in the pAst we were Blocked out of may not hAve been the best Result oR the individual got playEd but we all take L's if that for loss or lesson thats what important ill be the first one to say he got 'bud foxed" on that barclays/nets deal when he saw the light he got what he could out of the deal getting wifey a fat check for new uniforms for both team and cheersquad neither of which was needed at the time I guess being critical of grammar makes the negative people feel fufilled because the ideas had no flaws to attack or the attackers lacked the business acumen or critical thinking skills to contradict them directly
