A CAREER OF SMOKE AND MIRRORS said...

Jay z has made a career of using the common mans ignorance of how things work in entertainment and in the business world as a smoke screen for bragging and lying and pretending to be the king of all things, the best at what ever his name is attached to ; have you noticed?

Basket Ball Team Owner; but doesnt tell you its less than 1 percent, liquor owner, but really just a paid brand puppet, CEO of Streaming company but really just a front man to bring investors. Restaurant chain owner, ignore the horrible reviews, failed health inspections, and law suits by employees for not being paid.

Billionaire in print only, by a magazine that has now been exposed for declaring celebrities Billionaires for favors, pay to play and quid pro quo.

Now movie producer. In Hollywood movie producer means nothing, often times people are given the title because they have a big name to draw attention to the project, or the title is sold, to put clout on your name, for bragging rights.

What movie producer doesnt mean is owner, creator, boss, ceo, or the person calling the shots; What Jay wants the public to believe...

Jay "married" Beyonce for the ultimate clout, she "upgraded" him, made him a household name he dangled her name and status in front of every single deal he made. He was exposed for not living with her and having dozens of public affairs. Not a word, not peep, was said in her defense during the very public scandal of Beyonce being accused of faking her pregnancy.

Anybody remember his social justice organization, launched to go after racist OR was it help him land the NFL deal and cash in on Black Lives matter trending movement. What change has his organization made? What issue challenged, what does it stand for and on?

All things considered for that matter, what in reality does Jay stand for and on? What pretell will his legacy be?

Ya'll lost me at "produced by JayZ"....

Sorry Idris! I still love you!!!

10:00 am and 9:51. I read 9:38 comment with no problems. Are u dumb or something?

Actually it looks good! He also produced the Fela Kuti play that was highly successful. He may actually have talent producing. It's a lane that I don't mind Jay Z in. And I'm NO fan.

@11:04 Movie producer is often confused with movie director.

The direct is on set, directing the actors and executing the story, the vision, they are in control of the actors on set.

Producer now days is just a hollywood fluff word, just names added to the movie credits, in hopes to draw a particular crowd, like Hip Hop consumers for example in Jays case. Jay was never on the movie set, did not cut a check, and did not write a script. He lent his name to movie, he has a huge hip hop following (black consumers)

@11:17 I have been on several movie sets, thank you. I know what a producer is and they ARE on the set calling shots. Not from a directors point of view, but they have authority over who will be in the production, how things are done on the production, the time line of the production and navigate where the money is allocated to for the production. That's why they are called producers. Now whether he just put his name on the credits is one thing. But at the very least I am sure he funded some part of it. I don't think Regina King or Idris Elba would be a part of a shady produced film for clout cause Jay Z name is on it. They simply do not have to.

@ 10:54 No we are not dumb. We just dont have time to read all that nonsense about nothing. This subject matter does not call for a manuscript. If you have that much time in your life to read all that, then you must not be very productive and sitting at home living off of EBT.

I'm actually impressed by the trailer. Sometimes when it comes to black ppl and period pieces, they usually go overboard with the wigs, prosthetics, and make-up which distracts from the acting and the story. But this trailer looks authentic to it's period and look like the acting will be top notch too. I won't lie though, when I saw Jay's name as a producer I cringed. I thought, oh boy, Beyonce will be in this some kind of way lol smh. Either musically or with some over the top acting smh...but it appeared to be great acting, a great cast, and looks like a good story. I can't wait and will definitely support.

I dont think Regina is the right person for this part. They needed someone with more stature. A younger Grace Jones. The music sounds good though.

THIS IS FOR YOU @11:41 said...

@11:41 Ok,I will play, post a link to a photo of Jay Z on the set of this movie. Go ahead run to google. Keep in mind if Jay were on set there would be BOAT LOADS of PHOTOS.
Publicity and making sure he is seen.It is his claim to fame.

Did you see the Tidal App launch.

Did you see all video and pictures of him talking with the NFL Commissioner.Just two small examples.

There are several types of producers, several. "Movie Producer, is a super general title. TODAY in Hollywood "producer" means nothing untill you get very detailed specific.

I never said I Regina King or Idris Elba needed CLOUT FROM JAY Z. Show me where I said that. I said JAY gets clout from being on the movie Credits AND his name brings the HIP HOP crowd.HE DID NOT PUT ONE RED CENT OF HIS MONEY INTO THIS MOVIE. NONE!

So now I am waiting for that link of Jay Z on the set of this movie PRODUCING, lol lol lol. Waiting........

9:38AM, That was a great read, 100% on topic and quite precise. Keep doing you.

As for this production, I wasn't there so I don't know how much input Jay had into this project beyond throwing some money at it in order to establish himself as the "Producer". It's quite possible he just sat in a boardroom along a group of talented actors, screenwriters, creatives and Hollywood bigwigs who had already conceptualized the idea. But as mentioned, attaching his name to it was a good look for him because this movie seems to be very violent and gory, which he knows will attract his fan base and appeal to a certain type of crowd. Add in a Black female protagonist and a few gunslingers whooping on some YT ass and you've got yourself a winner.

Jay is obviously trying to capitalize on the resurgence of the Black Cowboy/Western-Buffalo Soldier genre which was popularized by Jim Brown and Fred Williamson in the 70s, and Mario Van Peebles in the 90s (Idris currently stars in a Netflix movie about Baltimore Cowboys). Is this a bad thing? Probably not because it beats constantly watching a Black man in drag or Massa chasing down some slaves. And although I generally don't support anything he's attached to, and it looks like a Quentin Tarantino knock off based on the preview, I might check it out because I'm a Regina and Delroy fan.

To: 9:38 AM

Thank God I have the mental capacity and attention span to read your information about the truth. I believe everything you said but I find it odd that immediately after you wrote that, in came the naysayers and the remedial who said you wrote too much. It was 8 short paragraphs and only took me a couple of minutes to read. I don't get the complaints that it was too much unless they're in need of a literacy class. Stay in school kids!

@1:26

There's a lot of spam on RWS with Israel United and fake baby trolls, so a lot of the times if the post isn't from a regular (like Ms Mac) I'll usually bypass it. But yeah it was a good read and anybody who has sense knows it's true. I'll still check out the movie though

9:38 AM Told not a single lie. However I will be supporting this as the wild west, was about the black cowboys, who had their whole legacy stolen, and gentrified by those raggedly troglodytes, who like to imitate with their John Wayne fuckery.
