Jay Z Acknowledges Damon Dash at Hall of Fame Induction

This weekend Jay Z was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with Tina Turner, LL Cool J and others.

In his acceptance speech Jay gave a shout out to Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash...

Damon Dash and Jay Z  have had a famously frosty relationship ever since Jay Z left Roc-a-Fella to become the president of Def Jam before launching Roc Nation [click here if you missed that].

Nas should be up there. Not this elderly camel with that dead Methusulah tree on his head.

Although I respected him as a rap pioneer, I never really cared for LL Cool J as a person until he debuted his M&M shaped head and revealed his battle with Alopecia. This, along with straightening up his act, being less cocky and staying by his wife's side during her cancer (at least publicly) showed me he was becoming a more humbled and mature man.

On the other hand, despite his music being full of misogyny and vulgarity, I used to dig Jay-Z as an artist and thought his transition from Marcy to the mainstream was done quite smoothly. Lyrically I thought he did an excellent job of chronicling his struggles of being a street dealer and hoped he would publicly do more positive and uplifting projects going forward. Pipe dreams. He hasn't evolved one bit. He's still hustling, only now it's globally.

In looking at the big picture, for all his wealth, influence and fame, Jay has done nothing to elevate the hip hop industry. I don't think he's solely responsible for saving Black America. I'm just turned off by artists like him who continue to perpetuate and reinforce all the negative tropes that are designed to keep Black people underfoot. And I could say this about most of these industry one-percenters like Kanye, Dre, Puffy, etc. But I have even less respect for anyone who acts enlightened but only uses their platform to appease YT while making money off of us.

Jay has peddled liquor, clothes and nightclubs -- none of which are remotely beneficial to our culture -- and he's consistently sold the public on a host of false narratives about his holdings and wealth. Every move he makes is solely designed to feed his ego and keep him smelling that fat upper lip of his. To me he's a fraud whose only mission is to suck up to the elite PTB.

There are way too many other rap & hip-hop artists who deserve their praises ahead of him but these accolades are coming from YT so I guess it's fitting for it to go to someone like him. Plus I'm pretty sure it's bought and paid for. After all, he does believe he's greatest rapper alive.

Yeah, I'm waiting on Dame's response. I just feel like his dramatic a$$ is fuming for whatever Dame Dash-esq reason. I may be wrong, but we'll see.

Yeah he just gave Dame a lil light...so we should hear from Dame shortly. Also, he forgot to mention Jaz O but he actually went to Twitter(which he NEVER post) to recognize Jaz-O!
I mean its only right since that was the start...
Lets dee if Salt & Pepper acknowledge Spin when they're inducted.

10:37 I used to be a huge Jigga fan...then I woke the fuk up. His hustle is fully cosigned by PTB and the fact that he studied Dr. York explains how he used words to conjure magic. His wife and wealth were parts of his music that his "fans" helped him manifest.

The hair does not help him look any better. He always looked his best with a low fade.

Yes he did open up the serpents of the under world by saying Dames name. He will have a come back that requires money.
