In a video that has gone viral Leomie shows how there are usually no make-up artists for the Black models, forcing her to redo her make-up or risk looking horrible on the runway.
Being a black model is doing other people’s jobs and not being paid for the extra work looool pic.twitter.com/mSTmBsDb5Q

Then other models started chiming in with their horror stories
i was the only black girl on set for this mv. everyone else got pink ponytail extensions while i got a fucking scarf wrapped around my bun. it’s giving hate crime. pic.twitter.com/x6r5haLT0a

WHO?
7:12 lol, agreed
This is nothing new at all. We have been hearing this for ages.
Mercy!!
Go talk to Iman, Tyra, Naomi and the list goes on. This is another reason for designers not to hire black models.
It is quite ridiculous to call yourself a makeup artist and not be able to do ALL skin shades. I mean colour is colour. I understand the hair, but not the difficulty with getting the makeup right. It's a short lived career. Just enjoy it and learn how to do your own makeup and hair. Wtf is a model good for anyway? Might as well know how to do something else
I understand this is across the pond but it's also an area for black MUAs to market themselves to the photographers and producers of these runway shows. There can't be just one Pat McGrath that's respected in the industry. We still have to beat down doors to have our voices heard.
Young lady you're definitely late to the game. Yet, it's fuaucked up that in 2021 our sisters still have to put up with the shenanigans.
Bring your own team and charge
Damn I get it but I would be so happy with a modeling job paying me money.. I would accept their trash cosmetic, work because only one thing would be on my mind, my next job and making it to the top! If a black model looks horrible in any way, that's a DIRECT REFLECTION on the DESIGNER, NOT ME.
Uhhhhh... they are late. Hell even on America's Next Top Model, a show started by a black woman, the black models always got their hair fucked up by those yt hair stylists. Smh don't get me started on the Black models who were given themes or characters based on stereotypical black or African tropes. I remember them always playing African drums or hip hop music wherever a Black model was called to the judging panel.
The fashion industry is ran by White people and gay European men who cater to stick thin, flat chested, flat butt body types of White European girls.
The fashion industry is a JOKE and should never exist.
@The fashion industry is a JOKE and should never exist.
That part!!!
I worked in the industry and it's definitely challenging. I have a BFA in fashion design. They steal our ideas and talent for themselves.
