Rihanna Named National Hero in Barbados After Removal of The Queen

This week the island of Barbados became a Republic after cutting ties with the British Monarchy, removing the Queen as the head of state and inaugurating its first ever President, Dame Sandra Mason.

As part of the celebration pop star Rihanna was given one of the island nation's highest honors...

The Right Honourable Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty gives her speech after being named a national hero.

I think Barbados has been independent from the British monarchy but kept the monarch in a "ceremonial" role. So, I guess the last 55 years was just listing the Queen as a figurehead with no actual power.

Nevertheless, I'm more excited to hear about more African (or predominantly brown) colonies, countries, republics etc removing the Monarchy as their head of states. We need more of our brown countrymen to be independent of that racist British Monarchy. In fact, I honestly believe that once the Queen passes, a lot more nations will follow suit. Prince Charles, and the heir William, have gotten a lot of racist blow back about their handling of the racist reports about Meghan Markle. It's about time ..

As for Rihanna...eh.

Largely symbolic and ceremonial, Barbados has been a sovereign nation since 1966.

It will take longer to get rid of the mental anguish of Yt supremacy and change the laws.

I agree these colonizers needs to loosen their grip on the countries they've already pilfered, plundered and raped for centuries. There's almost nothing left to take and you can't get blood from a turnip. Besides, the Chinese are the latest colonizers and they've come up with new methods of desecrating these small island nations via financial and political corruption. And sadly, these island nations leaders just sit back and let it happen because they all want their pockets lined.

Yodeling like a billy goat and twerking is worthy of national hero status because Rihanna is arguably the only well known figure to come out of Barbados. And I'm not being shady. Just speaking facts. I'm actually glad for all involved. Rih is definitely a part of the "machine" but at least she appears genuinely charitable. And Barbados is a beautiful country. Expensive, but beautiful.
