Cardi B Offers to Pay Burial Expenses for 17 Victims of Bronx Apartment Fire

Rapper Cardi B steps up after 17 people were killed in a horrific apartment block fire in the Bronx...

From ABC7
Cardi B has offered to pay the burial costs for all 17 people killed in a fire that ripped through a New York City high-rise.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced Wednesday that the Grammy-winning rapper had offered the financial relief for victims of the fire in the Bronx, where she grew up.
"The resilience of this city reflects everyday New Yorkers who never turn their back on one another," Adams said. "We are grateful for Cardi B, a real superstar on and off the mic, for granting some critical financial relief to families of the victims. The city will be forever thankful to her and also to the grassroots donors and corporate partners who have been able to offer immediate support for our neighbors in need, to reestablish themselves during this difficult time."
Many of the victims had ties to Gambia, and families of several of the victims planned to bury them in their West African homeland. Cardi B has committed to paying the repatriation expenses for the victims who will be buried in Gambia, the mayor's office said.
"I'm extremely proud to be from the Bronx and I have lots of family and friends who live and work there still. So, when I heard about the fire and all of the victims, I knew I needed to do something to help," Cardi B in a statement. "I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing, but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal. I send my prayers and condolences to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy."

Wonderful thing 4 her to do. I read about all the victims and it was heartbreaking. Faulty fire doors that didn't self close took 17 lives. No fire escapes. That's why I won't live in a high rise building in NYC.
May they all rest in peace.

Can't hate on the generosity and she seems sincere about it. Hopefully she comes through as promised with no shenanigans. Watching that story was purely heart-wrenching. Those people don't need any more trauma.

Come thru Cardi! She is loud, ratchet, and over the top, but she also has a very generous golden heart. She is very good in treating all of Offsets kids just like they are her’s. What Kulture gets she make sure the others have the same. She uses her platform surprisingly very well in promoting other female performers, voting rights, and other human rights issues. So I applaud her for that, and just skip over some of her brashness. Although I can’t speak on other people’s money and how they use it, but what I want to know is where are all the other performers that claim to love New York where their dollars at in this time of need since it was all Black people that died? Where is JayZ and his billion dollars at? Where is Alicia Keys, Nas, and 50Cent pledge to help? Everybody wants to use and holler “New York” when they trying to make money on a CD or a radio promotion but go radio silent when a give back is needed if it doesn’t match their promotional needs. And where is the self proclaimed Queen of New York Jenny from the Block J.LO at? Cardi’s money isn’t no where as long as theirs and yet she still coming to the table. And she didn’t announce it, the Mayor did and then she responded. That’s respect.
