Ryan Coogler Arrest Caught on Police Body Cam

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is currently in Atlanta filming Wakanda Forever and was detained after trying to make a large withdrawal from the bank after a teller mistook his note of instruction for a bank robbers note.

Police have released the body cam footage of the arrest...

Before the teller called 911 Coogler presented his bank card, his ID and entered his PIN number in the card reader.

A Bank of America spokesperson has apologized and said this never should have happened.

Who TF hands a note with a withdrawal slip??
Like everyone in the bank ain't banking!!!
I get discretion but this was just stupid to me.. When i hand my withdrawal slip to teller..There's no need for conversations except, "How would you like that?" or if he was that scary/careful he should've just went to the manager's desk for more privacy.....Self inflicted

Agreed. Self-inflicted.

Lol smh. When you have thousands of dollars to withdraw at a moments notice, you should already have a go-to person at your financial institution, so that when you need to privately withdraw over $10k, you have an escort and a private waiting area to transact discretely.

However, only an egotistical idiot, walks into a bank with a dark hat and sunglasses, to hand a minimum wage bank teller a note asking for a $12k withdrawal smh! It leaves too much room for ignorance and panic. Ryan is clearly a drama queen lol smh. And the black bank teller was an idiot.

The teller sounded like she was not all there mentally when talking on the phone with 911 operator. Deaf people bank and they might have to write things out. If that had been a white man she would have handed his an extra thousand dollars with a smile on her simple acting face. There are bunch of ignorant coons who comment on RWS everyday. The teller who called the police probably comments on RWS with the rest of the coons.

The teller was a Black pregnant woman. But she did mess up because there is a procedure for handling large withdrawals, and her ass was pregnant--so with pregnancy brain, and just thinking about her child, I think she was a bit presumptuous in calling the police before her manager...

BUT with that aside, I have 2 questions:

1. If you wanted discretion, and since you are a celebrity, why are you on the normal deregular teller line? Why didn't you see a personal teller to draw an amount greater than $10,000 which will trigger an alert?

2. Why are you wearing a rolled "burglar hat?" If I were a teller (albeit a pregnant one), that would have spooked me tf out LMAO

^why didn't you see a personal banker?

@10:45am
Stop lying if a white person came dressed the same way your self-hating black ass wouldn't have blinked. You are making all kind of excuses for white supremacy. Roll-up all those excuse you made and shove them straight up

He should remove his money, use private bank. Teller should be fired.

HE DID NOTHING WRONG AND THAT TELLER SHOULD BE FIRED FOR NOT COMPREHENDING THE SIMPLE ENGLISH WORDS USED IN THE NOTE. NO WHERE DID HE STATE HE WAS ROBBING THE BANK. HE HAD ID AND HIS BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION. DID THE ID MATCH HIM AND THE BANK ACCOUNT? YES! DID HE HAVE SUFFICIENT FUNDS IN THE ACCOUNT FOR THE REQUESTED WITHDRAWAL? YES! NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT THIS, THERE WAS NO REASON IN THE WORLD FOR HER TO CALL THE POLICE. IF YOU'RE CONFUSED BY THE REQUEST, GET A DAMN MANAGER. GEEZ! WHAT AN IDIOT!!

Thankfully he remained calm and didn't do the whole Hollyweird "Do you know know who I am?" routine. He didn't deserve any of this and I'm glad it got national attention.

@ 12:07 You are correct. He had his papers in order. If the teller had a problem, then she should have called a manager, not the police.

I'm so sick of banking while BLACK!! TAKE YOUR MONEY OUT THIS FKNG BANK THEN SUE, THE TELLER, HER MANAGER, AND THE BANK!! SO THIS DOES KEEP HAPPENING

@10:47 "Pregnancy brain" doesn't give you the right to discriminate and not use common sense. Any black person that ever had a run in with a black cop knows that they are even more racist towards blacks than white cops. Uber/taxi driver and bank tellers are the same way. There's no way on earth that this teller thought she was in danger after this man used his withdrawal slip, id and pin.

Bank robbers don't pull up with their ID, bank card and enter their pin number, so yea fire the dumb broad. Thankfully cooler heads prevailed.

I can't believe people use Bank of America... that was his first mistake! Take your money out of there...

He should get a fat check and the worker fired

NYC has private banks for multi-Millionaire's. You have to upgrade your own statis when you're in that league.

When you think you're high and mighty you should also learn how to spell. The word is status not statis.

i use notes as well when withdrawing because i like my money a certain way (20s 50s etc) and every teller told me its easier for them to do that and Thanks me each time so i don't understand this situation.

I never said I was high mighty. You do though. A missed spelled words does not take away the meaning of what I said.

As a business owner I have deposit large sums of money and made large withdrawals. When I present my withdrawal slip I may have the denominations written on the slip four $100 bills & twenty $20 bills etc. I don't want them to count my money up in the sky for all to see. I don't want to be conspicuous as a woman transacting large sums of money. Once I had a teller pause then confess she thought it was a robbery note.

Strange to me because I run a daycare and do this all the time. Some tellers are Karens who assume but don't read.

There are stories of bank employees who text to a robber waiting outside for you to leave with your money in hand. They know you have it because everyone saw it.
Even sitting with a banker is now done out front for their safety reasons and it isn't impossible for others to see. I ask my tellers to count my money low and I count with them.

She said herself that she didn't even look at his I.D ! And he put his pen number in. I don't see what else he could have done. She should have let her boss handle it if she so dam scared. She called the police like she saw a gun or something. Could have got that man killed if some crazy ass good old boys cops would have showed up.

@10:50am You sound like a dam fool! How many bank robbers give their I.D and pin so they can steal their own money? Teller was all the way wrong period.
