Stupid fans.

Her fans are morons 🙄. Can you imagine having to work with them? I'll bet they're always getting fired or job hopping because they start arguments over anything. Imagine spending so much energy on a celebrity who treats you like a transaction. I don't even think Beyonce likes her fans.

I know die-hard Beyonkee fans who say this album is garbarge.

Ok...I'm a fan of both Kelis & Bey music....Ive been watching this play out for a week now...That record(Milkshake) has been sampled over 40 times by numerous artists and all have been credited to Neptunes. Why is Kelis making a big deal on the 45th sample.that actually gave her credit????????

Tell us why your really mad Kelis...You out there.now!

I miss the days when no one had to sample, steal or have collabs to make good music.

The fans are determined to ruin her reputation. Beyoncé doesn’t know how to stand up for herself. She looks really stupid at this point. People talking about getting Solange. Walk up on the wrong one and everyone will be regretting their behavior. Kelis is not wrong in calling out the stealing of the sample regardless of it being 3 seconds.

A celebrity (I use that word loosely) that gets on the net and engages with anyone over something trivial likes this is not mature. K's little songs are not all that to be making such a fuss over.

Beyoncé should steal from Madonna, Adele, Lady Gaga. I’m sure their fans wouldn’t say it’s a little sample. Beyoncé wouldn’t do that though because their label would be on that ass. She did that with Kelis because it shows what she thinks of her. I want her to keep doing that. Steal something from Jamie Fox and Kanye. Kanye needs the attention. He ready. Steal from Kanye. But you won’t.
Attention Beyoncé fans:
Go to hell!!!

I wonder if Pharrell is going to speak on

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Pharrell is going to speak on this he could clear this up. He probably won't because then people would know Kelis isn't the only messy person involved in this

It's chess, not checkers.

1. If Kelis wanted the credit, she wouldn't have said anything. It was the principle and just the audacity of it all. She doesn't care about the blood money.

2. By removing the sample, everyone is focusing on Kelis losing out. But how could Kelis lose if she wasn't a writer? She was only listed as a "sampled artist." Not sure if money there since she gets no royalties anyway from the sampled music.

3. Who is really the bigger losers from removing the song from the album? 1) Pharrell--he doesn't get any new money if the song is not on the album. 2) Beyonce--if the song is not on the album, she may not perform it. She also doesn't get new money if she also has a writing credit on it.

Chess, not checkers.

And as for Kelis, whom I really like--you are the talent. You have tons of creativity, you could always make new music under your own label and release it. Sure what Pharrell did was grimy and I get why you are still angry about it. But it's great that you haven't abandoned the music industry altogether and are still touring stadiums. Use that momentum to create new music under your own label. You know better about the music industry, so do better and own your ideas.

I remember when Beythiefce tried to get writing credit on "Silent Night" and "Ave Maria." She tried it, but failed. The point is have that kind of audacity to protect your own creativity. It's obvious you have business sense running the farm, and selling out your beauty products so just channel that for your music as well.

It's also obvious that Beyonce only has yes men/women around her. They could have told her her album sucked ass, but no, there are 2 more parts we have to endure. Her fans are lunatics, but she's the one who set up this beehive mess, which is stupid because by calling those who are not fans wasps, and encourages the beehive to attack them, she will never gain new fans. It's not a good marketing strategy, because you are only relying on your fan base to buy your music, but not opening up your market. She is the only artist who has this fan AND anti-fan dichotomy. Esp with this album, this will not work for her.

I only liked Beyonce's debut album as a solo artist, and her music has not evolved. At this stage of her career, an easy listening R & B album, with a few pop songs would have made sense. But she's almost 45 competing with Megan and Chloe, and honestly should not be on this treadmill of releasing albums and touring so much. She doesn't have a Vegas residency, no appearances on talent shows, no products with her name (besides god-awful Dereon). Shit, Jennifer Lopez can't sing for shit, but damn, you cannot hate on how she markets herself. If Beyonce had a Benny Medina type manager, or if her dad was still her manager, her career would have been legendary.

There was no theft. The sample was cleared. Kelis just got her feelings hurt. (I am not a Beyonce fan.)

What days were those???

Prince, Michael Jackson, Babyface, Diane Warren, David Foster and many songwriters are the single songwriter. They make their own shit and for others. What the hell are you talking about?

Who ever produced Doja Cat's "Woman" seems like would have grounds for infringement. The rhythm arrangement for the entire song is very close to Energy.

Mariah Carey writes her own songs--at least the classics songs that we know

Songwriters & producers are different...There was a lot of beats re-used in the 70s & 80s....I clearly remember them Chic beats & Jimmy jam & Terry had a sound they re used.....
But i too miss Real musicians playing instruments & just getting funky...Them YT ppl took art, music, shop, cooking, sewing & mechanics out the schools bcuz regular folks was building their own fortunes off their God given skills/talents.....

Beyonce's fans...ugh...

There are three ways you can judge if a woman is quality; her nails, her hair and the way she takes care of her man.
Kelis' man is dead. That chaotic hoe is as triflin as her cornbread mix.

I hope all these Kelis fans streaming her music. Y’all been listening to her singles “midnight snack” and “feed them”?

Kelis so quick to call someone stupid. Rumor in the Harlem streets is that momma kelis was a big old brainless hoe fckn at least eight different niggas at the time. The tea is...who her momma said her daddy is ain't really her daddy #youarenotthefather

Thank you to those that understand that Kelis was playing the long game. Too many of the bloggers, comments, etc. think she lost or was sad that the sample was removed. Think about how she feels that every time that song is used, she gets no $$$$.

Pherrell won't say anything because then HE would have to address why/why not she didn't get publishing or songwriting credit. Either she didn't write ANYTHING on the song OR the deal that you offered her at 19 was crappy.

Kelis is a mean girl

Cosign 11:32 am. They took all of that out of the public schools because they know those subjects added to the building of a well rounded person. That's why they got rid conscious, conscience, and politically aware rap, for the most part.

@1:59

That's all true, but the difference is that those artists covered those songs, but did not get writing credit for them. They're well known for singing the song, but didn't demand a writing credit. Beyonce does that for every song that she did not write. Silent Night? Ave Maria? BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE!

Anonymous said...

@3:47

That's exactly right. No one is gonna get paid from the song. We already know that Kelis wasn't going to be paid because she "didn't write it" so just mentioning her as a inspired sampled artist was not going to pay her at all either--it's not writing credit. Not sure what people don't understand about that.

If Beyonce really wanted to be petty, she could have just taken Kelis' name off but keep the song on the album. But she couldn't do that because it was already established that the song was inspired by Kelis. So she took the song off the album, but now by doing so, neither Pharrell nor Beyonce can make coins from that record.

@ 10:27 You don't have to be old to listen to or appreciate older music. Turn off that drill rap and those coochie anthems and go discover some real music. Try it, you might like it.

Interesting…11:47 I’m not coming for you in a negative way, or out of pocket, I just have a genuine question for you. How would you judge if a woman is "quality"? Just asking, again no shade, just honestly want to know.
