Tyler Perry' New Film 'A Jazzman's Blues'

Tyler Perry often talks about the very first screenplay he ever wrote, after meeting playwright August Wilson, back in 1995 and now his passion project has come to life...

A Jazzman's Blues premiers on Netflix next month.

I hope it's good, without him wearing a dress looking like somebody's homeless feet.

I cannot do another unrequited love story about a light/biracial/racially ambiguous woman and a dark skinned man during Jim Crowe south. There are hundreds of movies and books dedicated to this. Can we get a love story where a black woman is the desired woman from a black man's perspective? Why is there so much cinema around women who look racially ambiguous? Why can't our men (TP) celebrate us (black women) for being beauty, desirable, sexy, and covered by our men? Why are black women only shown in specific manner when it comes beauty and desirability?

I have zero interest in seeing this.

Fuk Tyler. I wanna see another Django Unchained. Let me see a brown skin bruh go through hell to get his brown skin woman. Say what you want about Tarantino but he delivered Django like a MF.

I can tell when people don’t watch the trailer because their comment doesn’t even coincide with it. I can watch this. My great grandmother who was biracial could pass for white. Her mom was white. It’s something a lot of black families can identify with for sure. Even still, it’s not my money or project to complain about. One thing black people will do is complain, complain, complain about what they don’t want to see but won’t do the research to find the movies they like. Tyler Perry doesn’t need your approval. That’s why you’re where you are, complaining and he’s where he is, writing, directing and producing.

Not enough black producers telling our stories. While y’all bitching about nothing how about you do something for your community other than shooting and looting it up.

Tell me what how many other movies you’ve seen where a black man when through hell to save his black woman during slavery or even after slavery. Show me a movie where any men, black or white, who risked their lives to save a black woman who even resembles Kerry Washington. Spike Lee? Tyler? Ava? Who has done this?

I ain’t saying there aren’t any. I just haven’t seen those movies. Teach me.

These comments are funny...Tyler really should stop be stubborn & HIRE A WRITING staff. I didn't look at the trailer & don't plan to. I came here to say Tyler's like a preacher. Always highlighting women's pain & suffering to connect emotionally. I wish this black man would 1 day tell a story from a man's perspective cuz there's a lot of sh*t to touch on....but i get it women is his target audience...

This looks well written and well made. The cinematography, the lighting and the writing looks promising. I'm interested.

Ummmmm - This is every movie cliche ever.....it took him 50/11 years to blackify Romeo & Juliet?

@9:36 Thank you! Just watched "Really Love". I thoroughly enjoyed it..We adhere to a lot of societal standard norms when in fact nobody knows actually feels good to you..
