Sheryl Lee Ralph Gives Moving Emmy Acceptance Speech
Sheryl Lee Ralph brings the house down with her acceptance speech after winning the Emmy Award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Abbott Elementary...
Sheryl Lee Ralph has been in the game a very long time. Its her time to shine! Remember she was in the original Dream Girls on Broadway 40 years ago! Congratulations!!
I love the spiritual. It's who we are, and she got a standing ovation for it. She hasn't received her flowers since dream girls. Also, she was on the front lines of support for the fight against Aids. Blacks turned their backs on our race that had the deadly disease dying alone with no love or support from family and friends.
What in the cotton pickin' world was that all about? One step away from that ridiculous holy dance. I guess I'm just a different kind of darkie. I don't get it.
Why a couple of y'all in here like you ashamed of spirituals?! Yes it takes us back to a horrible time in history but NEVER forget those spirituals kept our ancestors sane & gave them hope. Sheryl was clear & intentional in her delivery. We have a heritage. We overcame. That's something to be proud of. Maybe these kids would have more respect for themselves & their fellow brother if they had something to feel proud of...
Forty-four years ago Sheryl played in 'A Piece of the Action' with Sidney Poitier. In her first acting role, she gave one of the most memorable monologs on film. She's been laying it down ever since.

Happy for her but that negro spiritual was a lot in a room full of saltines.
I was looking forward to her tap dancing after that damn song. Come on, people, sheesh!
