Michael Jackson Biopic Headed to the Big Screen

The estate of Michael Jackson has authorized a biopic for the King of Pop....

Antoine Fuqua, the man who directed such films as “The Equalizer,” “Shooter,” “The Magnificent Seven” and “Emancipation,” has been tapped by Lionsgate to helm their upcoming Michael Jackson biopic.
The film, entitled “Michael,” will be produced by Graham King (producer of the $911 million-grossing and Oscar-winning “Bohemian Rhapsody”) and penned by John Logan (“Gladiator,” “The Aviator,” and many other acclaimed, Oscar-friendly titles). King will co-produce the film alongside John Branca and John McClain, the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate.

It will be a white-washed version in so many ways.

Evan Ross is the only person who could effectively and respectfully portray him as an adult.

This will be interesting because the best MJ impersonators aren't black. Will this be another Nina Simone biopic disaster in terms of casting? They've done pretty well with the Whitney castings. Hmmm, who gonna play Prince? OMG that would be so good!

@9:45 Evan Ross for the win! But can he dance???

Anonymous said...

Yt telling his story

Doesn’t matter who they cast. If it’s authorized they can’t tell the truth (and you know Michael had a lot of “truth”).

^^^ what truth?

@9:47 at one point it was talk of Bruno Mars. But people shut that down.

^^^ Bruno Mars??? No bueno. I just watched a YouTube clip from Tamron Hall show where she has the guy who played in MJ the musical on Broadway...he seems talented. BTW Tamron is so dang beautiful I cannot believe she procreated with a cave dwellers...smh

Can we let this man rest already. What else is there to tell? The family has enough money to live off of for the rest of their lives.

Love me some Michael Jackson but I’m not interested in seeing a biopic. I didn’t watch that Whitney crap. They keep hitting a dead horse with these horrible re-enactments!
Love Angela Bassett but no to her version also.
Leave these people to rest in peace.

11:12 agreed. The only thing the younger generation need to know about him is his contributions to good music and dance.

@11:29 I don’t see Evan as MJ either. And please don’t let them bring in Flex Alexander again

It's a no for me too. Let that man rest in peace.

@ r n NYC once you're a celebrity you belong to the world even when dead. They will milk his celebrity for decades to come. Hell don't they have biggie, 2pac and Whitney hologram concerts??

Whitney Houston was drop dead gorgeous. Very bad casting of that particular biopic. Hell I would have preferred Gabby in the role and I am not a fan of her.

For one, I am looking forward to this biopic. The Michael Jackson estate will be involved with the development of this project, so I am sure that care will be taken with casting for each role and with the overall telling of his story. If the actors who are selected to portray Michael at the various stages in his life do not closely resemble him, I would not be too upset if CGI was used. Can't wait for this!

Well, I'm watching just to see IF and how they address colorism. Black people have to tackle this at some time so I'm hoping it's with this family. But I know that's not likely.

They'll probably make saints out of Katherine, Joe and Rebbie. They'll make Jermaine a cry baby, Tito will be the gangster of the family, Michael will do no wrong, etc.

If nothing else, it should be good for a laugh or two.
