NYPD Officers Arrested for Stealing Jay Z Branded Champagne

Three New York City police officers have been arrested for stealing $3000 worth of Ace of Spades champagne at a music festival...

Three NYPD narcotics detectives were charged Monday for sneaking into the VIP section of the Electric Zoo concert on Randalls Island last year and trying to swipe two bottles of $1,500 Ace of Spades, a pricey champagne brand owned by Jay Z, according to the Manhattan district attorney’s office.
Dets. Jonathan Gonzalez, 33 and Wojciech Czech, 44, were each charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, according to the indictment. Gonzalez and Det. Warren Golden, 31, were charged with official misconduct.
A third detective, Det. Warren Golden, 31 is charged with official misconduct.
Prosecutors say the three detectives were in charge of policing the festival on Randall’s Island in New York City for drugs when they stole two unopened bottles of Armand de Brignac, together worth $2,900 (£2,300), that were ordered by several VIP revellers.
Mr Gonzalez is alleged to have snatched the bottles – known better as “Ace of Spades” owing to the large playing card spade on the label – before grabbing a backpack. Mr Czech is then said to have held the bottles before handing them back to Mr Gonzalez to smuggle away in the bag while Mr Golden looked on and did nothing.
According to prosecutors, the trio then broke into the staff-only area where two attendees, who witnessed the alleged theft, confronted them after reporting the incident to a security guard. The champagne was then returned to the VIP guests who originally ordered it.
