Olympia Unimpressed with Dad's Hair Styling

This week tennis great Serena Williams shared a funny story about her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian blurting out that she was wearing a wig after someone complimented Serena's hair [click here if you missed that].

Hair seems to be the theme after Olympia's dad, Alexis Ohanian, shares a picture of her less than impressed with his hair styling skills...

Ok before y’all make this about yt/blk, my blk husband would have a worse reaction if he did his daughters’ hair.

Serena picked herself a pretty good yt billionaire. At least he’s trying.

Those Nubian genes are strong. She looks like her father, cute video it's always nice to see dads and daughters.

He looks like he's looking for bugs in her scalp. LOLOL

Y'all got money take her to a real salon.
Serena can't do her own hair. Wigs all day everyday.

Love Serena but her own hair looked tacky 100% of the time so dad probably could do a better job. I bet she was hoping this baby came out with some Hawaiian silky she could easily slick back into a ponytail. Joke's on her.

I get paid over $87 per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I'd be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless.

He can be taught. It's just hair.

At least that yt man is trying to learn; DJ Envy admitted to not knowing that little girls needed their hair done/combed everyday - despite having (4) blk daughters and a black wife - meanwhile this yt man ran a million dollar company and still found time to learn his daughter's hair smdh.

I’m trying to figure out why people are being negative about a dad doing his daughter’s hair?

Anonymous said...

My dad never did my hair. Why rich people be acting broke? They can't get someone who knows how to do hair? Instead of fronting for a picture. Otherwise... cute father/daughter moment.

Do these people do ANYTHING privately, or is EVERYTHING for attention?

I appreciate them as a couple, and what they let us see of their family and relationship! I'm not ganna play into the Black-White aspect, All I see is a man-a- father having a moment with his child! These are cherish moments! Wealthy or poor, lets be honest, you go to the salon as a child depending on the event! Your parent, nanny, cousin, aunt, sister whomever helps to groom you on a daily basis! Even though I don't know for a fact, but I'm sure they have a nanny or two, however, what I believe holds true is, they seem like hands-on parents! What more can a child ask for especially born in that level of wealth! A parent being a parent doing their parental duties! So, if her "white daddy" wants to bond with his daughter by trying to be efficient, why not! Shiid so few can say their father took and active interest in their personal grooming, knowing full well he's out of his elements! I'm here for it!

The notion that grooming a child's hair should be left to the staff is problematic. Parents are supposed to bond with their child and groom their hair. One of the many reasons why blacks, especially black women don't know how to take care of their natural hair, their mothers never taught them how to take care of natural hair. Taking a child to the salon causes the same issue, women who don't know how to take care of their hair in its natural state. Because most black women failed to learn how to care for natural hair, they rely on wigs and weaves, "protective styles" etc.

I am glad to see this man try and take care of his child's hair care needs. His wife's tragic wigs and weaves is a road their daughter should never have to walk down.
