Diddy Returns Publishing to Bad Boy Artists

Last week Dip Set rapper Cam'ron broke the news that Diddy finally agreed to give Mase back his publishing [click here if you missed that].

Apparently is wasn't just Mase, but all the Bad Boy artists...

From Revolt
Music and entertainment mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is continuing to not only talk the talk but walk the walk. In a historic move that will likely ignite astronomical change in the music industry, the founder of Bad Boy Records has decided to reassign the label’s publishing rights to the artists and songwriters who helped make the company the powerhouse it is today.
Companies have reached out to the founder, offering him 100s of millions of dollars, to purchase Bad Boy Records’ publishing. However, instead of accepting these proposals, he’s decided to reassign them to their respective artists. Bad Boy stars such as Faith Evans, Ma$e, The LOX, 112, as well as Biggie’s estate, and more are among the artists and writers who now own their publishing from the label.
Combs hopes that his unprecedented move will inspire the music industry to follow suit as he continues to be disruptive and change the status quo. He wants to see more creators flourish and profit as much as possible from their work, hopefully sparking a new way the biz compensates future ones.

He knows he done got the most out of that all these years giving it to them now ain’t really gone do much ain’t many ppl looking to play these songs and use them now. He is doing this because he knows no artist will work with him or very few will due to his reputation so he is trying to appear as if he has changed so he can get some of this new money that out here. He is releasing new music we all know that so now he has to find new ppl to work with him because these young ppl are not going to buy an album with just puffy.

Chile he has drained every possible coin out of those songs already. There is not even a crumb worth of money left in those songs. Especially the ones he is howling on.
Nobody wants those. LOLO

I watched the Little Richard Doc last night on CNN. It's a shame how he got cheated out of royalty and copied by the Yt ppl that made millions trying to duplicate his sound and songs.

Stop minimizing the importance of this gesture. It’s a big deal.

Kudos to him. He owns them all and never has to release anything to anyone. For whatever reason he’s using to do this, he still doesn’t have to do this. The negative crew here will always hate on it/him.

He robbed them all and got all the money he would get out of those songs. He is selling the rights to stay alive and have more liquid assets. Now that the BET deal fell through, these black moguls will be moving assets around more than they used to.

I see some black male worshipers in the chat. Sure he should get pat it on the back for something moral that he’s doing that he should’ve done to begin with but all of a sudden he’s some great person because he’s finally releasing something back to someone after he’s made buchu money off of it come on knock it off now all of a sudden this oh no matter why he doing it he still doing it so it’s good that he’s doing this. This is a big thing. No it’s not. It would’ve been a big thing if when he came into the game, he came into the game doing this allowing people to have their publishing saying hey look I am a black on label you get with me and you’re on your own publishing but instead he did exactly what the white companies do

Better late than never. Besides, the Artists deserves this and appreciates it.

Uh 2:47, he did what ALL in the industry has done - yt AND blk too. He did what babyface & la Reid did, he did what Motown/berry gordy & Smokey Robinson did, he did what those Philly soul owners did. It’s called the industry and they all use the same contracts and transactions so sending kudos to this dude for finally doing something now, is NOT blk male worship. Jeesh.

He is about to go. He chewed all the meat and threw the bones back to the artist. Wish he could give all the people he is responsible for kids back their parents

Karma is a coming he could have done right by his artist but he didn't all that money, murder and misery coming back for him and it won't be kind.

557, they all did it, but they all ripped off their artists, too. It’s like peeing on people and telling them it’s only a rain shower. Jeesh, indeed.
