I totally get it. Rock & Roll, which was created by black people has been ignored by the BET awards, the Soul Train awards, the NAACP Image awards and likes. Hopefully, now that Lenny has given this topic the exposure it needed to begin the conversation, they'll begin to right those wrongs. What's even crazier is the group Fishbone has been pioneers in the funk and rock genre but has never gotten any recognition. That's crazy to me and it's sad they've continuously been ignored.

Folks need to look at groups like, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. One of the funkiest rock and soul groups of all-time! There's many more to name....

^ Add the Isley Brothers to the list (the Beatles had a big hit with Twist and Shout written by the Isley Brothers).

Funky rock? Some of the guitar work on the Isley’s 3+3 album has been called Psychedelic Soul (funk with a wah-wah pedal). White people used to call it Psychedelic Soul to keep us out of the rock category because they know we’d win all the awards.

YT couldn’t do sh!t, including make music, without us. They’d still be dancing on their tippy toes if it wasn’t for us.

Ha! Lenny's response was initially sent to The Grio in response to Michael Harriot's article, and a weak-ass reply it is.

Living Colour is one of the best Rock bands ever! And needs flowers asap! They need to recognize alternative and indie too

Talk about it 4:07. They have no flavor and are boring as h*ll when it comes to feeling anything that has a soul.

I agree with Lenny. I understood what you were saying. Good luck!

Black people don't listen to Rock the same way they listen to rap or RnB. He is correct. Black people are not checking for him and neither is BET. Stand your ground Lenny.
