First of all…. ALL of these old school rappers owe hammer an apology. He really was the first rapper to get endorsements but was called a sell out and had songs made about him. Now old and new are sambo’n to damn endorsement check tf. They didn’t appreciate you Hammer so I respect the decision
I was wondering about this and felt it was disrespectful to Hammer if he wasn't invited, but now that I know he was and he tells why he didn't attend, I totally get it. The hip hop community (his peers) used to call him a sell-out and pretty much clowned him back in the day, so I get it. I understand Hammer. We (in the Bay Area) have NEVER wavered and we Love you! One of our hometown legends! Can't touch Him!
When someone is ahead of the curve & does something that's not yet common, we're quick to start all of the name calling, but when your favorite rapper/artist does it YEAAAARS LATER, it's all good. I bump'd his shish then & bump's his shish now... Do ya thang Hammer & fuq all tha haters!

He stood on business. Good for him. He was an innovator, and the real person was a lot more hood than the MC Hammer persona was.
