Taraji shares how she had to fire her entire team for not capitalizing on the success of the hit series 'Empire...'

Taraji P. Henson says that of all the smart business decisions she has made in Hollywood, one stands out as the best.
In a new interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, the 53-year-old star of The Color Purple said that firing her entire team after her time on FOX's hit series Empire was one of the most salient.
"Firing everybody after Cookie," she answered while speaking with Variety's Angelique Jackson. "Everybody had to f**kin' go."
The Hidden Figures actress -- who played Cookie Lyon for six seasons prior to the show's end in 2020 -- pointed to her character's many iconic attributes when explaining why she thought her team would be ready and able to capitalize on her fan-favorite role after the show stopped.
"Where is my deal? Where's my commercial? Cookie was at the top of the fashion game. Where is my endorsement? What did you have set up for after this? That's why you all haven’t seen me in so long. They had nothing set up," Henson said during the sit-down.
The one thing her team did bring to her after Empire had ended was the idea of a Cookie-centric spinoff, which she said she was only open to if it had been done "right."
"All they wanted was another Cookie show, and I said, 'I'll do it, but it has to be right. The people deserve- she’s too beloved for y'all to f**k it up.' And so, when they didn’t get it right, I was like, 'Well, that’s it,' and they had nothing else. 'You're all f**kin’ fired,'" she said.

I guess they thought Empire was going to last forever, should have had a plan B and also about the cookie spin off show it was so much they could do with that character before they turn her into one of those “real housewives” being loud, angry, ghetto and we do not see anymore black women acting like that so that’s good she did not sign on but I’m sorry she is not working now and we are going into the new year but should have kept the fire hot during Empire but now she doesn’t have any jobs lined up and I’m sorry that had happened to her. Then gaining weight so the roles really gonna stop now I just wish she had a plan b instead of banking on empire, it’s a good show but turned ghetto at the end and especially with the homosexual scenes
She needs more range in her acting abilitys. Playing ghetto women all dressed with no place to go played out early 2000's. And lose some weight. You need to be snatched to get these roles and fashion endorsments..
Well all yall “celeb faves” will end up like this and I guess the person who runs this blog will post the stories but what they don’t realize is that this blog time will eventually run out also and will also meet the same fate. 2024 ain’t gonna be nice! Should have done right in 2023.
I don’t know if it was her team, FOX or both but when Empire was running, Empire characters were everywhere on that network. But I guess she forgot we were in a whole pandemic when the show ended and unless she was looking for tik tok to keep up the character or she was going to endorse some Cookie masks, the timing was just wrong. Had the show made it through the pandemic then maybe it would’ve worked. It just wasn’t in the cards.

Let’s not forget what she said when she supported his lying tail. She said it wasn’t right and compared Jussie to Emmit Till. That will NEVER sit right with me and I’ll never agree to disagree either. Dumb dumb went all out to act like Jussie didn’t tell a lie and we know he lied. Set up the stupid robbery, paid them for the lie and possibly slept with one of the brothers.
Emmit Till’s mother had to endure a life without her son due to white people’s hatred of black people.
There is no comparison. Jussie is still alive and standing on the lie.
Taraji need to stop with the alcohol and/or depression eating. We all get older but she is losing appeal. She looks bloated and it isn’t cute. Put the alcohol down and get back to exercising to get those roles.
People can say what they want about Halle but she never let any roles interfere with her health knowing she has diabetes. Her health comes first and is why she gets the money.
I like Taraji and I don't hold it against her for supporting the idiot (I think she believed him at first), but THEY won't forget/forgive. They will act like they forgot and never mention it, but they'll make sure she doesn't get major roles and major money.
Oprah and DuVernay will work with her, but I wonder about the YT established filmmakers/studios/bankers. I even wonder if Tyler will work with her again. We'll see.
She's an OK actor. Just Ok. Ok actors don't get roles thrown at them....

Taraji was nominated for an Oscar for Benjamin Button. She's incredibly talented but she's been offered limited roles, probably because her team had limited vision. The publicity she received from Cookie should have pushed her into another level if her people knew what they were doing. As for Juicy Jussie, that story disappeared off white people's radar almost as soon as it appeared. He lied, white people knew it and were not conflicted, the end of Jussie forever. That didn't affect Taraji.
Bottomline (lol no pun on Tyler and Lee) but Tyler and Lee Daniels are nothing more than the black Chitlin circuit with their dark and often over-the-top issues and cookery on black women. Oprah and them all should be ashamed. What's the point Tyler has that huge studio, when he won't hire the best and brightest and pay them accordingly. It's a damn shame when Madea's wigs look better than the lead women in his movies...LMAO! #IJS
