Vigil for the woman who knew and allowed her husband to continually r**e her daughter and sons.
Vigil for a woman who used her son for his royalty checks.
Vigil for a woman who kept taking back a violent, abusive, pedophile.
I read both of Bunny's books and I was repulsed. Bunny turned out like her mother. Despite catching her husband molesting her daughter, she stayed with him. She also left the daughter with the man while on tour.
So sorry, I have no sympathy or prayers for this woman.
She was complicit in the abuse and torture of children.
I don't care how slow she is, it's unacceptable!!!
No wonder all the kids were or are on drugs.

She can't die soon enough. Headed straight for hell.

Sad, I didn't know that R. I was getting ready to feel sorry for the mother.
I still would not give my permission to be photo'd on my dying bed.
My family took pictures like this recently of my step father and they are all standing around the bed with a smile on their face. It felt like the movie GET OUT.

They didn't have to post her looking like that. We know she's old just leave people with the younger images. Not dying in your death bed.

The father was a true monster. He literally had 2 families. The one with Etterline and one down the street and around the corner. He would molest the children while Etterline was at church. He would also do it when the mother was at home. It's true her brothers beat his azz. I believe that's when he stopped putting hands on her.

She isn't going to hell if she repents. Nobody will if they repent.

Other Side Of The Pain

Mixed feelings:

While I very much sympathize with Etterlene as a victim of a long, brutal marriage, I wanted to see that she at least acknowledged that the extreme violent upbringing of the children at the hands of their demonic father directly resulted in the substance abuse issues and promiscuous behavior in the majority of the DeBarge children instead of making Berry Gordy the villain. All of them were extremely broken by the time they even left for record deals. The seed was planted at home. In other memoirs written about Mama D by the children, they don’t trust their mother because she was weak when they needed her to protect them the most from their father. This book shows her grandiose vision of herself in their eyes. Whatever allows you to get by and sleep at night, Etterlene.

Her suffering is her own doing. They grew up doing everything wrong to escape their abusive childhood.

Yeah I watched to movie and it didn't put her in a good light. Those kids are all screwed up. But I didn't know he had another family around the corner. That man is a sadistic individual.

I just had this conversation the other day about prayer. When people ask strangers to pray for them, what exactly are they supposed to be praying for? And in this case, this lady is like what, 90 years old? So what are prayers supposed to do for her? Let her live another 90 years? Or are these prayers really for the people who are left behind? And why can't they pray for themselves? I really don't get it. If they want prayers, ask family to do that or build a relationship with whoever you see as a higher power, not me!

As far as this old lady who sat back and allowed her children to be repeatedly violated, she was allowed to live on this Earth for a very, very long time with impunity. So wherever people think she'll end up is really not anyone's business or concern. She'll face her own reckoning however it comes.

I wonder has she ever apologized to him and took accountability of her actions?

2:03 She was too busy cashing Tommy's music checks to take accountability.

Say whatever you want about Ms. Etterlene but one thing is for sure, her children adore her. She was a very misguided woman who I believe checked out emotionally because she had dark skin and married a white man. That made her feel prestigious. No matter what they all went through, the fact is her kids have a strong love and bond with her. So who are we to disrespect the relationship she has with her children.

Mama D looks old, feeble and tired. Her family should allow her to transition and meet the Lord. It won't be long now and I hope they're all ready to live their lives without their mother no longer on this earth. That's a very sad reality.

Tommy Debarge was addicted to drugs and very very sick before he died. No wonder she was cashing his checks, he would have spent it all on drugs.

Wow!!! R in NYC I did not know any of this, as I was never really into their music. That is horrible that she allowed her own children to endure such horrific abuse. I would have happily put a few bullets in that monster and be on the blotter with a smile on my face.
And like 1:49 PM said pray for what? Another 90 years? She's lived a long ass life, after all her children endured.

4:22 Yeah I learned a lot reading Bunny's books. The mama was stealing Tommy's checks from him and his wife and kids. It's amazing how people try to justify that woman's selfishness.
Btw they also loved the demonic father . They were by his side when he died. Some kids will love you no matter how bad you treat them.

May the good Lord bless and keep you Mama Etterling and thank you for the 10 beautiful, talented children you birthed and raised. My childhood has great memories and feelings of love and inspiration because of your children and their amazing voices and I am grateful.
One thing I WILL NOT DO is judge this lady or ANY MOTHER for birthing and raising her children to the best of her ability. Ms Etterling was 17 years old (possibly younger), also a victim and until any of us lived her life or walked in her shoes, NO ONE has the right to judge her. This lady lived through and survived an era when there weren't even half the choices and opportunities we have today, especially as black women---I can't believe these comments. SMH
The Debarge children adore their mother and that's what matters--everything else is between them, their parents and the Most High.

@8:50 PM Exactly!! Thank you.

She loves attention, you ain’t El, go away.

Prayers for Mrs. Etterlene

8:50PM, First of all she didn't need to birth 10 kids, especially when they were being abused and she knew about it. At what point do people take responsibility for their actions? People always make excuses for bad behavior and terrible choices. She turned a blind eye to all the trauma she was allowing and was causing to her kids. She's beyond ridiculous and selfish and I don't need to walk two steps in anyone's shoes to see that.
