Chris Brown was 19 when he violently assaulted Rihanna. According to multiple interviews Rihanna did after the assault, this was not an isolated incident (not an excuse if it was). He had a history of abusing her.
If Chris Brown had evolved after the Rihanna assault, we would not be here discussing this issue.
Chris abused Karrueche Tran throughout their relationship. After she broke up with him, she had to file a restraining order against him for stalking, harassing and threatening her.
He and his associates assaulted Frank Ocean, Usher, and Drake. He is banned from the UK for assaulting a producer in a night club.
The cops have been called to his house for numerous violent incidents, including a standoff with the police with guns involved.
None of these incidents have resulted in arrests because he has either paid off the victims or charges were dropped by the victims (which also probably was a result of him paying them off to avoid jail time).
No one owes Chris Brown forgiveness. He is responsible for redeeming himself. And people (women especially) need to stop supporting and pacifying his behavior.
Also, these companies and organizations need to stop straddling the fence when it comes to inviting and support him. Either you do or don't. Do not cancel his appearance once people express outrage, just don't invite him. You know who Chris Brown is and what he represents.
Why is Chris Brown being punished for this when actual NBA players have done worse? I guess it all depends on how famous the victim is.
