Karen Huger Refused Breathalyzer After Crash

This week The Real Housewives of Potomac Grande Dame, Karen Huger, was arrested on DUI charges after losing control of her Maserati, veering off the road and crashing into a signpost and a tree [click here if you missed that].

Turns out the REAL reason Karen was arrested is because she refused to take a breathalyzer at the scene of the accident....

Karen Huger was arrested after smashing her Maserati and refusing to take a breathalyzer after her DUI crash, the Montgomery County Police Department confirmed to RadarOnline.com.
[We] can now exclusively report that Huger was taken into custody before being cited for driving under the influence.
"At approximately 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, Montgomery County Police 2nd District officers and Fire Rescue responded to the location of Oaklyn Drive and Beeman Woods Way in Potomac for a single-vehicle collision involving a 2017 Maserati," the MCPD's public information director, Shiera D. Goff, told this outlet.
"The driver, Karen Huger, was taken into custody and transported to the 2nd District station in Bethesda, where she was arrested and cited for driving under the influence. She was then released."
Goff confirmed that "she refused a breathalyzer."

I don’t get why people refuse. You may refuse but the police will immediately arrest you and make you take tests at the station. Duh.

1:49 they can't make you do it at the station either. Yes, you will be arrested and lose your license for a period of time but there is no proof of BAC (Blood Alcohol Content). The penalties/fines a judge would impose are based on the BAC guidelines. The higher the BAC, the higher the penalties/fines. If there is no BAC due to refusal (no real proof), the fines are imposed at the lowest level. The first question an attorney will ask before taking on a DUI case is if you blew. While there are repercussions, it actually may be in your best interest not to. Hope this helps you understand.

Karen, Karen, Karen, I am a Montgomery County resident just like U and U just like U I also loss a parent and did not handle it well. I was drinking and while driving home and had an accident. Thank God no one else was involved. It makes me sick to this day that I was so irresponsible. It could have been far worst. I was 30 when my Dad passed away and it took many many year to get through it. So I do have empathy for U. With that being said, U refused a breatherlyzer, so did I. Big Mistake. U will have to go to 2 courts, MVA court (didn't know they had one, did U, but they do) and U will have to appear in Circuit Court. MVA is definitely going to take your license for 4 months (it may have increased now, it has been 20+ years ago when I went through this) In addition U will have to appear in Circuit Court and wait for your name to be called and EVERYBODY will know actually what took place on that dreadful day. When your lawyer tells U to enter a alcohol class, do so, it shows that U are taking the matter seriously. Be prepared to go to 8 to 10 classes. That Gran Dome title will not be working for U sis. Please forgive yourself and just get through this with HIM.
