Russell Simmons Responds to Drew Dixon's Defamation of Character Lawsuit

Last month former Def Jam music exec, Drew Dixon, was able to successfully serve Def Jam co-founder, Russell Simmons, at his private resort in Bali with her defamation of character lawsuit, after he referred to her and nearly two dozen other women as liars and fame seekers in his first in-depth interview since fleeing to Bali amid a flurry of 6ual assault allegations [click here if you missed that].

Russell is demanding the lawsuit be thrown out...

Simmons said the suit should be dismissed with prejudice because he was speaking generally while addressing 6ual assault claims against him back in Dec. 2023 — and never mentioned Dixon by name.
Simmons has since argued that none of the "statements alleged in the Complaint are defamatory as a matter of law, because all the statements are opinion — not fact — and Plaintiff is not clearly identifiable in any of the statements" in a new court filing.
According to his latest filing, "He did not even mention Plaintiff by name (or anyone for that matter), when expressing these opinions," giving him reason to believe the lawsuit should be tossed.
Simmons argued that his aforementioned statements "are not defamatory as a matter of law."
