I love this. I remember watching Tyler's early plays on VHS when I visited family down south. I don't watch much of the new stuff. But I appreciate how far he has come.

His story is inspirational indeed.

I used to enjoy his stage plays back in the early 2000s. He's come a long way since then but I lost interest after Why Did I Get Married. But I'm just curious. Did Tyler Perry achieve all of this by himself without the help of anyone else? Did he not have any backers, investors, mentors or supporters when he was coming up? He never seems to give credit to anyone (except God) so I'm just wondering if he really did every single thing on his own. Seems implausible but if so, how? It's inspirational if you leave out all the finer details. And don't come at me about being negative. I'm a realist and a fact finder so I like to know all the details.

Tyler lies a lot and I'm not sure what to believe from him anymore. He likes to create these elaborate stories about his beginnings to make him appear larger than life and relatable.

@3:55. I don't have details, but my money says Tyler is backed by white and/or Jewish money that loves seeing us act a fool. His backers are the same ones who will NOT back Ava DuVernay, Spike Lee, Barry Jenkins, Julie Dash, Mario Van Peebles, Kasi Lemmons and others.

There are so many Black creators who are or have been overlooked, but not the king who knows all about angry Black women.

I don't have the answers you want, but I bet we aren't the only ones asking questions.

@3:35 that is actually worth investigating and knowing. Good perspective

I'm not into his shows and buffoonery but his struggle along with his success I'm here for.
