Zendaya and Tom Holland got engaged over the holidays after the English actor allegedly sought permission from the Challengers star's father.
However, in an exclusive phone call with DailyMail.com, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman denied a report that suggested Tom, 28, asked him for his daughter's hand in marriage before the proposal.
When reached for comment about his reaction to Zendaya, 28, getting engaged to Tom, Kazembe told DailyMail.com that it was 'a bunch of crap' that was reported.
'That was a bunch of crap dealt out by TMZ,' he said before adding, 'I don't know what you're talking about.'
When pried by a DailyMail.com reporter for more answers, he refused to comment further.
The star's father has stuck by her side throughout her career and has accompanied her to various red carpets and events as her manager and bodyguard.
DailyMail.com has contacted reps for Zendaya and Tom Holland for comment.
Sources close to the newly engaged couple told TMZ that the Spider-Man star met with Zendaya's father 'months ago' to get his blessing before he got down on one knee.
The sources went on to say that it was 'an important step' for Tom since he's 'very traditional' and wanted to secure Kazembe's blessing.
