After Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyers submitted a petition to delay his six trafficking trial, a judge denied the request, confirming jury selection will start May 5 and opening statements May 12.
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial will be moving forward as planned.
Although the rapper’s legal team attempted to move his trial—set to begin jury selection May 5—by two months, judge Arun Subramanian denied the request, stating it was made too close to the trial’s start date, per Reuters.
Combs’ legal team had made the request alleging that some of the evidence had not been given ample time to review, but after sharing his decision, Subramanian informed the defense that it was “unclear why there isn’t sufficient time to prepare.”
As a result, jury selection will still begin on the first Monday in May, with opening statements following a week later on May 12. On top of a slew of other legal entanglements, Combs is facing federal charges in his upcoming trial.
