Black Dandy Met Gala Sets Fundraising Record

The Met gala theme this year, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," was the first time the gala specifically focused on Black designers and Black style [click here if you missed that].

Now the Black dandy gala holds the record for most money raised in the event's 77-year history...

From E!News
The 2025 Met Gala is already off to a strong start—hours before celebs hit the iconic steps.
Ahead of the annual costume ball, which benefits New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, museum officials said they’ve already raised a record-breaking $31 million, according to The New York Times.

Wish I was in NYC to see the clothes in the show at the Met Fashion Institute. Amazing Black finery on display for the next few months.

The Black dollar is strong, and it means something to the economy. I wished we all believed that and would stick together closer like our ancestor did. Black dollars matter. I have to give it to Anna for stepping out of the Yt norm to celebrate us and broke the record for making more money than previous Met Gala's.

I'm starting to see some really good Dandy outfits that the mainstream media didn't show from the red carpet.
This was the year the Black men turned up. LOLO

It was cool. But uh, the brothers and sisters dress better than that in Detroit every weekend. Real talk. The original Dandy’s.

Where does the money go?

The money goes to the museum.

A WHITE museum that usually focuses on WHITE history and throws Black people a bone every once in a while. The JOOS got their due and DC did it with the AAHM. It's past the time for NY to dedicate a museum specifically to OUR struggle.

@11:57, We know that won't happen, but too bad they made the most money off of the black theme, without blk people or communities benefiting. No thanks!

most of the $30 mil probably came from Tyler Perry. This year was his first year attending the gala

Looked like witches & warlocks having a party.

Poor Halle showed up & showed out with her Black cat.

11:57 I get it but I’m glad AW decided to shine light on one of the many fashion styles of black culture in a YT space.
Especially with all that’s going on since that Turd came into office.

And as a result, it’s the most money that was donated.

Probably wouldn’t have been as much tho if Tina and Richard would’ve held a gala for WACO. Black celebs usually attend their gala since the money raised is for our people.

I thought most of them looked ridiculous.....raising money for something that doesn't benefit them.
