A book called “the yellow wife” seems to be loosely based on her story.

My people. We've made so much lemonade out of life's lemons. Mary Lumpkin was a true heroine.
i never knew this origin story! i have to look more into our hbcu history. we need more gems like this to remind us of th e caliber of people we descended from!
