Casandra “Cassie” Ventura’s mother took the stand at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ six-trafficking trial after her daughter’s emotional testimony last week, alleging she was once forced to pay the mogul $20,000.
“It was understood that he was going to need $20,000 to recoup money he had spent on her because he had been angry that she had had a relationship with Scott Mescudi,” Regina Ventura testified Tuesday. (Mescudi is rapper Kid Cudi’s real name. Cassie previously testified Combs was jealous of their romance.)
“He was angry that he had spent money on her and she had been with another person,” Regina claimed.
Cassie’s mom further claimed from Manhattan federal court Tuesday that she and her husband, Rodrick Ventura, took out a home equity loan to fulfill the payment that Combs allegedly demanded.
“I was scared for my daughter’s safety,” she admitted. Regina also revealed that she had become aware of the domestic violence her daughter had been dealing with and had even taken photos of her marks.
“I wanted to make sure we memorialized it,” the matriarch said on the stand of the alleged abuse.
Cassie, 38, testified last week that she often hesitated opening up fully to her mom about her issues.
She testified that despite struggling to tell her mother the truth, though, Regina had mother’s intuition.
According to the “Me & U” singer, her mother once called her to ask her if an online blind item that detailed an assault was about her.
“I didn’t tell my mom the truth because I was ashamed, but I also felt like at that point I didn’t know what was going to happen,” Cassie testified. “I didn’t want to put my mother in danger of knowing anything of that magnitude.”
The singer also claimed that, despite being cautious about what she shared, her mother eventually once called the police out of concern when she and Combs had a fight about her cheating on him.
Aside from Cassie’s mother, another person close to her — her ex-best friend, Kerry Morgan — testied.
The model, 39, took the stand Monday and claimed the Bad Boy Records founder once choked her and hit her with a wooden hanger in an effort to get her to reveal with whom Cassie was allegedly “cheating.”
The attack led to Combs paying Morgan $30,000 to keep her quiet and ended her 17-year-long friendship with the “Love a Loser” singer.
“She told me she thought I was milking it and was over-exaggerating,” the ex-best friend claimed of Cassie on the stand, adding that they “never spoke” again.
