The Chi Renewed for Season 8

Lena Waithe's gritty Chicago drama, "The Chi," renewed for season 8...

From Variety
“The Chi” has scored an early Season 8 renewal at Parmaount+ with Showtime.
The news comes just under two weeks after the Season 7 premiere, which was the most-streamed premiere in series history according to Paramount.
The official description of Season 7 states, “With Alicia (Lynn Whitfield) at the helm, the pivotal women of ‘The Chi’ rise to reclaim their power. Yet, as loyalties are tested and new rivalries are stoked, it becomes clear that there’s only one crown and it will come at a heavy cost.”
Along with Whitfield, the cast of the series includes Jacob Latimore, Yolonda Ross, Michael V. Epps, Shamon Brown Jr., Birgundi Baker, Luke James, and Wendy Raquel Robinson.
With the Season 8 renewal, “The Chi” is now one of the longest-running Showtime shows in the network’s history. It now ranks alongside shows like “Dexter,” “Homeland,” and “Weeds,” which all ran eight seasons at the premium cabler. Only “Shameless” has run longer, with that show wrapping up after 11 seasons in 2021.

I've never seen it, but now that I know that Lynn Whitfield, who is a phenomenal actress is in it, I may watch.

I like the show but I’m not sure I would watch another season. The story lines are cliche and there are some things that are way over done.
