A source close to the situation exclusively tells Page Six that the “Back at One” singer “has not reached out to the family.”
“He did not contact or see Niko,” the insider tells us.
The source says Niko “was surrounded by an abundance of love and support from those who truly mattered,” including his mother, Julie McKnight, his older brother, Brian McKnight Jr., his wife, Carla, and other extended family members.
“He was not alone, and he was deeply cherished every step of the way,” the source tells us.
Page Six has reached out to Brian’s team for comment but did not immediately hear back.
After Niko's passing his social media posts about his relationship with his father began to circulate online.

When his dad was a radio dj in NY, he was something else.
He was dating someone whose body wasn't as perfect as it looked in clothes and he proudly bragged to us (his audience) about dumping her.
He admitted that it was a slight difference.
So sad for this son to go out like this.

I wonder why some expected him to reach out even upon death to someone he didn't deal with in life. Family relationship aside, they were not cool or close. No use pretending for the public. May they both find peace, here or in the after life.
I understand some parents and adult kids not seeing eye to eye but this situation is throwing me off.
Brian isn’t taking any accountability. He went into straight beast mode defending himself acting like his kids are from another planet or something. I don’t get it. Move on with your life but if the adult kids are reaching out allow them to be accessible to you ……as long as they are respectful.

Maybe they kept acting like he should stayed with their mother and it strained their relationship. Either way it sounds like Brian, Sr., checked out years before and they stayed in denial. Just nasty work when you spread rumors about your kids. SMH!
I can’t say Niko was in the right but Brian should have made sure he had the best care at the least regardless of the mother’s allegedly telling him to stay away. She didn’t have any resources and money to care for him so it shouldn’t have been an issue for Brian to cover the expenses. Just drown out her complaints because you know it is about her, at that point, not Niko!

Brian McKnight is a demon of the highest order. I hope karma gives him the life he deserves.
He will never find peace here on earth or after. And I don't understand his current wife/partner either. I could never be with a man that intentionally doesn't have a relationship with their child/children. I just couldn't do it.
